Hi Volks,
We have found several of the VW bus accessory washer bottles that were availible before the 1964-67 ones came out. Does anyone have any info on this system, and especially any dates to trace how far back these were sold?!?!?
The biggest noticable differance between the early bottle and the later installed at the factory ones, is the early style has a scalloped collar and it only rotates 1/3 turn to release (like a medicine bottle lid), were the later one is straight knurled that unscrews several turns before releasing.

Post a pic. I can look in my dealer accessory books to see if they match anything listed. Also look at old JC Whitney and Western auto catalogs.

Hi Splitpile,
The "Made in Germany" formed on the rubber top is bigger than the later bottles. The bottle only has "Made in Germany Hella (Logo)", with no VW logo or VW part number. Bottle plastic is flexable, more translucent, and smells like the plastic used in 1970's camping collaspable water containers. Collar as you can see has the scallops, and has "auf-zu" (German for "open-closed"?).
Thanks,
Eric&Barb |
