Is there a market for full or partial sheets of replacement woodgrain laminate and mustard colored yellow vinyl? How many of you have a need for this, assuming that it was reasonably priced?
The reason I ask is I have found an extremely close match for both. The vinyl is the same mottled brownish yellowish color, except it has a bit more "grain" embossing than the stock vinyl has. The laminate is a dead-on match in color and pattern. I will post photos later. |

I'd be interested in both if, like you said, they were reasonably priced. _________________ Your Vanagon sucks, Stop waving at me.

Mark, the vinyl is 52" wide and is sold by the linear yard.
The laminate is 4'X8'; the grain runs vertically. Hope this helps. |

shipping on the laminate is probably gonna be a deal killer for me, but count me in for 7 linear yards of the vinyl (that's 21'x52" right?)...let me know if you decide to go through with the order and an address to send a postal money order out...
thanks, Mark Laken _________________ Wish List:

I would be interested in the yellow vinyl. The image in the gallery looks pretty darn close. _________________ How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.

I thought I posted a link to my sample earlier.
Here is the sample. New on top, orig on the bottom. Pretty close huh?
Sorry, I don't know what it would take to redo an entire interior. You would need to measure or ask your upholsterer for measurements.
I am going to sell it by the lineal yard in whole yards.
Give me another week and I'll get prices and post a sample of the laminate. I've been busy on other things. |

Looks to be a pretty good match.
How does the thickness/pliability compare?
You have to do fold-overs at the corners and this could be very important. _________________ Founder and Chairman Emeritus, ECMSAS

Thickness and pliability is the same--if anything the new stuff is stretchier.
This is not marine vinyl. |

hey majorwoody,
been thinking about the laminate...would you be willing to rip the sheets into 2'x4' strips?....if so, i'd be interested in that also...maybe 4 - 2'x4' sheets...i just looked at some pics to remind myself...and this is not as easy as it initially sounded...i'd need the laminate to be ripped in half (4x4) and then ripped into 4 2x4 sheets so that the 4' length is with the grain...if you know the manufacturer and laminate name, it might be easiest to try and locate it locally...
thanks for all your effort thus far, woody _________________ Wish List:

Sorry, I'm still here.
I'm trying to negotiate a better deal on the laminate before posting a price here. And I am trying to figure a way to have it drop shipped, at least in this country.
The way I am going to handle this is just to make one giant order so be ready with your length requirements soon.

Progress!
I am now ready to take orders on the vinyl. I finally got the price down enough to make this worthwhile.
The vinyl is going to be $35 a yard, in 52" width. Because of the way I have to obtain it, I want to take all orders at once, and one time only. The order period will end on April 15.
I hope to resolve the issue of the laminate this evening and get a price up here by the weekend!
I will post an ad for both the laminate and the vinyl when I get the pricing on the laminate. I have to look into how laminate is shipped, as I know that many of you are interested in both the laminate and the vinyl.
Thanks again for everyone's patience, and for all the PMs! |
