I have a 54 rag and I believe the orignal color was ultramaroon! I'd like to paint the car its original color but I'm curious how it looks on the car!

I believe a HotVW's cover car in '95/'96 was ultramaroon. It had all the Empi stuff on the rack....I think

That bug is now in Japan. It was around Orange County for a year or so. I love that color. Very Happy

Mark Weiss had several nice cars. He was a fireman and had the time to restore some beauties.

Ok, I'll pipe up with the stupid question...

Why is it called 'ultramaroon' when there's no hint of Maroon? (Or am I the maroon?)

I'm not colour blind am I? Or is that another thing like 'Strato Silver' which is really Blue.

If you see an Ultra Maroon car in person, the color is a Purple-ish Brown. The correct name for Strato Silver is Strato Silver Blue Metallic, hence the Blue-ish shade.

Computer moniters have slight color variances so pics may not show the correct color hue.

Doesn't it seem there are quite a few firemen that have taken to the VW ranks?

Thanks guys, I know there was one of the magazines one of these last two years that featured a car that color. I know I have this issue, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Does anyone know the month and year or whats on the cover!

Please! More pictures, I have to see this colour!

Is it like Bordeaux Red? That blew me away when I saw it. Black, then red, then deep dark maroonish.

Is Ultramaroon another one of those colours?
