I have a couple of bubbles and a perforation along the window seals. What's the best way to deal with this? I'm pretty good when it comes to body work but I'm reluctant to undertake this. Do I have to pull the windows off? Should I just leave it to the pro? If let the shop do it, I guess I might as well do a complete paint job....

Any input appreciated...

POR makes a filler like Bondo but better. I believe bondo will absorb moisture.

Bondo must be sealed,it can wick moisture. Pull the window.

vespagati, i'm in the same boat you are except the rust spot in the lower corner of the passenger side windshield has decided to give way. Just as the rains move in to the Pacific NW and shroud us in moisture for the next 8 months. I bought some clear sealant stuff the other day which was not very effective so I'm calling body shops this week as I'm in no position to do the work myself. I've got a nice size puddle on the floorboard which is not good.

Not trying to hijack your thread but can anyone out there in Samba Land recommend a body shop in Portland, OR with experience with VW Westy's?? I've come up with a short list of establishments but that's just browsing this site and the yellow pages. Any input would be appreciated.

The fiberglass embeded filler by evercoat does not wick water and is water proof works well with Por15.

I've dealt with this sort of stuff for decades. The repair depends on a few things. For minor stuff go the POR15 route and lift the seal. But it depends. If it is worse under the seal, you may need to pull the window and do more work.

You're in San Diego, me too. Let me see it. This weather we are having for the next days is perfect to fix this. But, it depends. If real bad, you may need to go to a body shop.

Sometimes I have ended up painting the whole front of the van, if it is bad.

You need to do this right or you will have problems again later. Most likel worse.
