Wow wild! I'm asking my good friend Heiner from Berlin if he has ever seen one of these buses as a kid, he was born in East Germany in the 50's and owned a Trabant. I visited him a few years ago and had an epic vacation in Germany from finding my German family in Bavaria to renting a Trabi (short for Trabant, a cute little car made of paper/cardboard and resin) and driving through Berlin. Updates hopefully soon and home movies !

super cool and interesting mirror arm and "trafficator" arrangement.
weird doorhandles, too
The added headroom looks like it would be helpful.
google image search leads to former GDR (DDR) build from the 50s. |

Have you considered simply starting with a nicer bus? I don't know what your skills are, but the race is easier if you can see the finish line. If you are not a runner, don't start off doing a marathon. |

What the! This almost looks like a "wanna be"
Is it an optical illusion or is the belt line missing? That front window split pillar looks wide.
I don't own a BD but love looking at all the pics you guys keep digging up _________________ I only went to look at it!

This young lady is an unbelievably eery doppelganger to my 11 year old daughter. It is freaking me out a little bit. _________________ nothing |

I couldn't believe my eyes!
The decals used by the company i work for survived!!
The forman who used to run the company workshop is still alive, he's 94 at the moment and wrecked both barndoors back in the day.
In the early 50's we had two panelvans which had a massive chrome decal on the nose.
This bus used to train car mechanics to become a AAA or AA roadguard.
See the film footage i collected some years ago.
Link
Brekina made a toy version of this particular car.
The massive decal's are heavy. I think the weigh about 10kg each.
The current state is absolute fenomenal, no pitting of chips in the chrome.
Here's a photo to see how big the decal really is.
The other decal with the company name ANWB was used on a panelvan which performed MOT inspections on location.
This is currently the only picture i have of this van.
This is the decal used on the nose.

Those pictures were taken on the west coast of Mexico in 1955 on a caravan from Arizona to Guadalajara. They took the scenic route. _________________ .
