Im looking at a bus i believe to be between 64-67. I am not very familiar with type 2's as of now but I am working on it. I am confused about the numbers on the plate behind the passenger seat. These are the numbers in the order i saw them:

20D

425 025 114 130

UK 2412 121872 7074920

I cant find the damn Vin number in the engine compartment. (At least that is where it is at from what i am told.) I did a search and still couldnt figure this out. (maybe I am looking at this all wrong.
Basically I am wondering what these numbers mean. And where is the VIN number in the engine compartment. From what i can tell the bus is a Deluxe (The trim and clock are there) and the numbers say so also i think. ANy help on this will be greatly appreciated. also i will post pictures of the bus and the bad rust spots so maybe someone can let me know how much is too much to pay for it. That will be done when I get home. Damn computer here wont let me put the pics on the computer. Thanks for the help.
Dan

VIN plate should be located on the right side of the engine compartment where all the wires enter the compartment...

Yes it has seatbelts. I now understand what 425 025 114 130 is.
Now I dont know what 7074920 is or how you got 1966 from 2oD (I see where december would have come from) Or how you got deluxe bus from 2412. Im sorry for asking lots of stupid shit but like i said I am new to busses. been working with bugs for a long time.

That is plenty of rust, the back hatch rust is kinda of a bummer too. I just did rust repair on a bus w/ much less rust than that and it was alot f work. On the other hand, the bus may not have too much rust to just drive. Is there any frame rot?
That rust will cost plenty of money to repair if you can find someone willing to do it.
