do i neet to take any cooling tins off before i drop my engine my bently and haynes make no remarks towards it? 1980 air cooled 2.0 vanagonL

Matt,

At most you would just remove the back peice and perhaps the left side piece.

Do you have this? With the exception of the fuel lines and the fuel pressure regulator they are just about the same.

I would, but I've seen many a 2.0 for sale, on the ground with it all still on. I Haven't had to pull mine so I'm just guessing. I wouldn't want to bend things up if the engine bumped into anything when you drop it, but it also it won't be swinging in the air like some of the bigger engines I've pulled, and than ran into firewalls, and fender wells. Laughing
