|
|
I heard a rumor awhile back (from Thing e-mail list maybe? 2-3 years ago?) that was from a person that interviewed some guy that was high up in VW of Mexico. The fella said that there was one Thing produced that had a 1.7L type 4 motor from the factory (pancake form) for an executive (VW of Mexico President? memory is foggy...). Does anyone out there have any further information on this? I want to say it was a '76 Thing, but once again, it's been awhile since I heard the rumor.
Thanks-

The person you are talking about is Pedro Sardas. He owns the last Thing that rolled off the VW line in the Mexican plant. I suspect that more than one T-4 rolled off the line as a special ride for a special person. I have not seen a pic of one but if you go on Topica and call out to Pedro he usually surfaces. He is always out there lurking. I traded some stuff with him not that long ago. As a former VW Thing factory worker, he has a wealth of VW Mexican Factory facts. K-mann |

Sweet- thanks k-mann! I'll post a message to him in the next couple of days.
I couldn't remember who posted that info years ago-
Thanks a million, and maybe we can try to put something up on here about it. |

That sounds cool! If mine is any indication, Things need all the help they can get.

Sounds like Pedro needs to visit the WeeKee and start plugging in that hard to find Mexican VW Thing History. _________________ Cool runnins,
