|
|
OK, my morbid side here. It is pretty well known that serial killer Ted Bundy owned a late 60s Volkswagen Beetle. He owned this car for several years, used it to transport many of his victims. Apparantly he must have been somewhat of a VW guy-after he was arrested the first time, he broke out of jail and made his way to Florida, eventually stealing a different VW Bug.
Anyway, Bundy was a very very scary individual as many know. I lost sleep reading about him and what he did to some of the girls he killed(he admitted to 36 murders but many say he did over 100)
But I was curious-does anyone know the history of Bundy's VW? Last I heard, a member or Korn owned the car, but I was more kind of wondering of the car's history before the Korn guy (Davis) purchased it. Thanx! |

Not sure about previous history, but you are correct, Jonathan Davis of Korn does own the car. |

i remember watchin cribs with john davis and he showed the bug...it's like a tan 63 i think...bundy took the passenger seat out and pretended to have a broken arm and would have the girls come open the passenger door to grab his stuff that he had there...he'd hit them with a pipe or something and then lay their bodies in the space on the passenger side...pretty creepy _________________ (O\U|U/O)--->74 std bug... |

Me and the wife were talking about this the other day. I wondered what happened to that bug. I guess I know now. I wonder if that makes it any more valuable than a regular 63? _________________ 72 Super Beetle

Speaking of VWs with dark histories, I wonder what happened to Dr. Kevorkian's bus?
Kinda weird to buy a car that has a history like that...I'd be nervous driving it late at night... _________________ <---Air Cooled Search & Rescue Team - STICKERS & T-shirts for sale!

I don't know if I ever heard about what kind of beetle he had in Seattle or Salt Lake and if was the same one or not.
I was thinking the one from Lakeland, FL was stolen. |

Sick humor:
One of Dr Kevorkian's methods was carbon monixide.
I wonder if Kevorkian would simply let his patients sit comforably in the bus and turn the heat up full ? _________________ Midwest Autosavers, Inc. Woodstock, IL |

Bundy's VW was a 1968 Sunroof Sedan, tan in color. He mentions it several times in a book I have been reading, which is an interview with him. Interesting book-he was apparantly a very intelligent, charming guy-an not insane-he knew exactly what he was doing, and wished he could stop. Which makes it even scarier IMO, he was kinda like Mr Anybody. I was very very young when this went down so I do not remember all this (i was born just before his first arrest in Nov 74)
One thing mentions about his VW was the fact that he transported not only young female bodies in it, but stolen goods as well. he once saw an expensive 8 foot tall plant in a store he wanted. He stole the plant, and lifted it down throught the open sunroof in his Bug-leaving about 5' sticking out of the roof. He also tells of a time when he stole a large Sony TV and got it in there.
One of the things that led to his arrest was a traffic stop-the police found handcuffs, rope, and a crowbar in his Bug.
I forgot about Kevorkian's Bus. Although I do not completely disagree with Kevorkian, I gotta say, if I had some painful disease I knew I was gonna die slowly from, can't say I wouldn't be giving him a call! |

According to Ann Rule (prolific writer of serial-killer autobiographies), Bundy loved Bugs because they got great fuel economy, and did well in the snow. His macbre interests aside, he was an avid skier who traveled a lot, to chase snow and the obvious.
Bundy aside, Randy Woodfield (dubbed the I-5 Killer), convicted of the death of 11 women and suspected in 44, was known to drive a Champagne-colored Beetle. I don't know the year. _________________ Settle down, it's a car. |

Bundy would have been better off with a mural van:
he could have easliy upped his body count with a chick magnet like this beauty...and dead body moving and storage would be a breeze... |
