Hi all,
After trying many things to solve noise coming from my shift linkage, progressively getting quieter and quieter I was left with a nasty vibratory noise coming through my shift lever. The noise would change when I moved the lever this way and that but never go away. I decided to remove the shift lever knob for the hell of it while cruising down the highway and low and behold the noise goes away. The hollow cast plastic knob was acting as a speaker, amplifying and broadcasting normal vibrations to an unspeakable volume. I packed the knob with plumbers putty and it put an end to that mystery. |
