Since an EFI unit requires a coolant temp sensor, and sicne I have no coolant, I have been pondering this.

I see people who just install the sensor on a bracket next to the head or barrel. This may or may not be accurate, but I had another idea...

What about a small canister of liquid that is drilled and tapped for the sensor mounted on the head? the water should heat up to the same temp as the head, my oncly concern would be that the aluminum castings woudl cool faster than the water unless there were some heat sink fins around the canister too.

Would this work?

Couldn't you use a oil temp sending unit? You could use the type that screw into the oil relief galleys on the bottom of the engine. The oil temps are fairly close to water temps in water pumpers.
