Airkewld made a purchase from me-we did indeed run up and down the Crow's Nest a few times-settled the Weight and Balance, dumped the ballast and completed the deal in a military manner. Thanks Pete for you business.

Not too impressed. RHD beam, to redimple the leaves was a headache from the plate over the front of the beam, tie rods fouled on the shock when it was set up from the top shock mount been offset to the rear of the car, had full turn one way an under 1/3rd the other. Emailed back n forth tryin to rectify this, was suggested to offset the revolutions in the steering box so 1 turn to full lock one way an 2 the other. Top tower where the shock mounts can be twisted by hand which isn't very reassuring.

Ended up making a quick steer plate to clear the tie rods from the shock, tyres hit the headlight buckets prior to the tie rod on shock now.

Please take the beam to a VW shop to have them verify your claims. We assemble rhd beams every week with out issue. Although there are circumstances that change the outcome, different shocks, different spindle mfg, etc, we still tried to guide you down the right path with your beam install. Drilling your own torsions with out the correct tool is indeed a bear. If your towers can be moved by hand, your are Hercules, or close to it. If your unhappy with the beam in any way, please return it for a refund.

In the 1st post, u said put up any feedback good, bad right or wrong. I'm giving my feed back on what I had encountered with this beam, I've put together other 4" beams, I have a 6" I've got to finish off soon and I havnt had any of this trouble before. I'd sent emails with pics showing what I'd encountered just to prove I wasn't making it up, there were emails sent back saying how to rectify it, I measured it all up and couldn't do it that way, hence more emails back.
I'm not goin to pull it apart to set it back up to show someone else what problems I'd encountered, that's wasting my time.
When I tack welded on the loose top shock bolt (so I could get the shock off later without having to remove the body) then undid the bolt to remove the shock, I saw the top of the beam moving as I was taking off the shock, hence me sayin I saw it twisting. I'm not Hercules but I did see it move.

I guess your the professional that makes these beams an I'm the amateur who has no idea. No point in sending it back, I've rectified what I encountered with it to make it work.

Please understand, I am not trying to undermine your ability. But I am asking you to take it to a professional to validate your claims. Feedback is key in any manufacturers life, so getting feedback from both the #airkewldArmy and professionals the same, makes the process even better as we develop the product.

When a client purchase a beam only, no torsions, no tie rods, no install kit, it is going to have it's unique challenges because it is not going to be as easy if all the parts were ready for you to bolt together. So others must know this about your feedback.

When asked about how much you shortened your tie rods, you specifically stated 2" off each side. If you have done this with other cars, you would have noticed pre-mature tire wear along with some not so good handling in turns, due to the Ackerman being way off.

I want to help you so that in the future, the 4" beams you put together are perfect for you and your friends. This means having the proper parts/knowledge/tools to do it right.

On a personal note, unless you stated different than what you posted, a tack weld will flex back and forth pretty easily but a fully welded bolt will not. So IMHO, I think the bolt was teetering back and forth and not the tower. I have run over a beam with a trailer, yes, it happened, and it didn't even flex. So in the future, if you ever have to change out your shocks and have a smart phone, take a video of it, it's early, egg on my face would be a decent breakfast.

I hope the quicksteer works sufficient for you. If you would like to get the new parts to try it the way we install it, we can make you a special deal to get those to you so you can post feedback on how it went together with the new parts. Either way, enjoy the ride and take care!

Call me old school, call me an a-hole, whatever but we never do business with a company that can't spell. I know taking 'cooled' and turning it into 'kewled' seems to be a marketing rage these days but when I see 20-25 year old college graduates coming to me for a job and they can't spell basic elementary school words, I cringe. This may sound silly to most reading it but it's what we think is right. Last year we bought an RV, and we passed on one we liked just because the manufacture labeled it "Kountry Kruiser". That alone cost them a sale.

I read in another post that Pete named his company airkewld because "aircooled" was already trademarked.

Sad Just wanted to let everyone Know . That the Billet Column Gauge Mount will not Fit Convertible Applications , due to the location of the Factory Locking Front Hood Release . It would have been Nice of Airkewld to make mention of this on Their website . Now I am stuck with a Part I can't Use . And its such a shame . I really like this design . Just won't work for a Convertible . You guys should make a Double Stack Model, where both Gauges are to the Right one on top of the other . ? I guess sometimes You have to figure solutions to Problems on Your Own !!! ??? Rolling Eyes

How are you stuck with a product that you can not use? Send it back and we will refund the card or paypal.

We have not heard of this not fitting a convertible. If we had known that, we would have made it known on our site as well as over the phone.

The Part was purchased about Two Years ago by My Customer . I just got thru Installing the wiring harness , and was getting ready to hook up the gauges . When the problem was discovered . Good thing I checked and waited before I drilled the Hole for the wiring !! I will just list it Here on Samba And Sell it for my Customer . If this would have been purchased recently then he could return it . But it has been way past 30 Days !! I appreciate the Offer . And I am not here to give You Guys a hard time or BAD MOUTH Your products . His car is not modified in anyway as far as the Hood release is concerned . Up until 67 Just to the Left of the Steering Column .

Have him send it back. I will buy it back. Or can an extension be made to swoop it around it?

This last weekend I was in the Phoenix area and I ended up having some time to kill before catching my flight back home. I decided to run out to Goodyear to go check out Airkewld's shop and my main purpose for going was so that I could grab a T-shirt. Cool

Any of you that are going on and on about how unprofessional these guys must be because of how they spell their business name have CLEARLY not been to their shop.

I walked in through the front door with both of my young sons and was almost instantly greeted by a friendly guy with a big smile. It only took a matter of seconds before we started talking about each other's VW's and I told him that I was from Oregon and just wanted to check the place out. He said "Hang on, let me go get the owner". Whoa, wait....what? I really didn't want to bother anybody. We were checking out the eye candy in their showroom when Pete came out and introduced himself. He took time out of his day to stand there and bs with me. We also talked VW's for a while, I got shirts for my kids and myself and we left. Not because he seemed like he didn't have time or was put-off by my being there. But because as a small business owner, I know how there's always so much to be done and I didn't want to take up more of his time.

Here's my thoughts. I was VERY impressed with Pete, his shop, his employees and his attention for detail. He clearly has a lot of pride in his work and he's a VERY detail-oriented person. We felt very welcome there. Not like so many others out there. I can tell you, if you have any doubts, just go check it out for yourself. The shop is clean and organized, the cars and pans on display are gorgeous and are extremely well done and the staff (including Pete) were extremely polite, professional and welcoming.

I will, without a doubt, get ahold of Airkewld for my next project after seeing what I saw.

Thanks again Pete!

Just want to say that I exchanged a few emails back and forth with Pete explaining my desired set up for my car. He was very helpful in helping me determine the best set up for me, and note I've ordered a 4"ultimate beam, shortened tie rods, and a pair of torsions. I'm going to install my existing CB Performance disk brake kit, and my existing taking arms on it once it arrives. I'll let you guys know how it looks and how the install goes once it comes in. So far I'm happy with the communication.

I have purchased about $3k worth of stuff from Airkewld in the past. Parts have always arrived promptly, complete, and well packaged. Their parts, although un-installed at this point, appear to be top notch. I've emailed several times with questions and have always received a prompt, thorough, and helpful response. Pete and has staff have earned my return business.

Shortly after my last feedback post for Airkewld, I found myself in need of a narrowed linkpin beam for a project. So I spoke with Pete at Airkewld, asked him all the questions I had, which he thoroughly and promptly answered, so I placed the order. Pete said it would take 3 to 4 weeks to get the beam to me, and guess what? The beam arrived at my door 3 weeks from when I placed the order. It was very well packed in purpose built packaging, with a packing list, installation instructions, and various stickers, business cards and advertising flyers enclosed. The beam itself is beautiful. Extremely well built, completely square, great welds, really nice powdercoat and fairly light weight. It is going to look great under the car. Also, after doing some mock-up with it on the pan and the body, I have no doubt it is going to perform as good as it looks and last a long time. I was skeptical initially about a beam with bushings in place of bearings for the trailing arms to ride in. But now that I've had both in my hands to tinker with, I think the delrin bushings Pete uses in his beams will not only work smoothly without play, and will probably last a very long time with regular maintenance (lubing at every oil change). In short, Pete has done it again, and I will not look elsewhere for my suspension parts in the future. It's really nice to have a vender do what he says he will do and have his parts perform as expected. My last beam came from Atomwerk Engineering. That experience was exactly the opposite (13 months of frustration only to receive a substandard product). Please refer to my feedback post for Atomwerk for more information. Then go to Airkewld.com and place your order. Airkewld is the best for value, performance and customer service.
