|
|
Last driven in 1962, with 35,000 miles on the clock. Retains all original parts and upholstery. Will need rebuild of engine and some minor rust repair work. Then back on the road!!!
Still has original dealer sticker...... Purves Motors of Winnipeg, Manitoba and VW Canada "Volkswagen" branding on the hatch.
Congrats to the new owner! |

On the road for only 8 years?....Motor blew and for some reason original owner never repaired..... sat in a back lane for years after.
Bought by a lucky individual from a small ad in the local Buy and Sell in mid '90s and now off to new home......... |

Dang, that is very nice indeed!
So, where is it going? Can you tell us if it is staying in the Prairies or Canada?

Uzi:
Sold for Westfalia..... let's clarify!
I was not the seller of this '54 barndoor.... nor the buyer..... Just reporting the deal going down as a friend of mine ended up buying it.
Known about it since the late '70s (was just up the back lane from the church I was married in) and have been following it since. Did make an offer on it in '91 but timing was off..... Told Everett a couple of years back that this might be up for sale did not materialize then.
Appreciate BD's and had a chance in keeping the '53 I bought at that local auction here in 2003 and discussed on the Samba, but decided after six months and some thought to let new ownership take over...... Otherwise it was sell the '67 Westy to finance work on the '53.....
But if you ask, I am more partial to older Westfalia's (thus the '61 purchase)as they don't grow on trees of late either. To each their own! |
