I just tried to install a CB thinline sump on my ghia, problem is, the pickup/filter setup from CB is spring loaded and is really VERY poorly designed. In other words -- it ain't gonna work. Before I go and re-invent the wheel, thought I'd see if anyone else has had this problem and how they solved it. I was thinking that since I only need about 2.5 inches, I might could use a high temp hose and clamp, but I'm open to any suggestion -- especially ones that let me use the CB filter since it is a much finer mesh than the stock VW one.

I used the extension that was supplied with the deep sump, but tig welded it in.I don't trust the "hose clamp" thing.

problem with that is, the "extension" from CB on the thinline is a rubber donut! kinda hard to weld rubber.

You can buy a steel extension by itself from GeneBerg.com

I've used pieces of thinwall aluminum tent pole for oil sump pickups before. Have one on my backup 1835cc that's in my Bus right now, works perfect...

So far I have not found an extension that fits as well as the Berg part. Measure your stock pickup diameter and order one. Trim the end as neccessary.

OK, got this one solved. Thanks for the input. If anyone should get a CB thinline with filter and need a solution, PM me.
