Just bought this heavily modified '73. What can I say, I could not resist the cool WW2-era mods.
Does anyone know anything about the "Notek" lights/reflectors?

Nice! What kind of steering wheel is that? Looks like a split window beetle or barn door bus wheel? Got any close-up photos of it? _________________ Mike B. |

love that green. I toyed with repainting mine a similar color using rubberized paint. But not yet ready for that |

I have no idea where the steering wheel is from-- the original owner passed away. It is evident he was really trying to make it look WW2 era. The speedometer is also different-- it simply has 1-100 (I'm assuming KPH), with the VW & gear symbol on top-- which looks to me like original or repro WW2 german speedometer. No oil or alternator lights, so I'll have to add those to the dash. Also of course I don't know what shade of green paint that is, any guesses? |

My 1974 Thing that I've had about a month now. The car is pretty much completely restored, except for a dune buggyish exhaust that I want to change out. Fun little car, and a daily driver back and forth to work. _________________ 1963 Beetle...My mom's car that got sold in 2012

Yeah that one does look great, the whole Thing just fits together nicely. Makes me want to shop around for another steering wheel which is the one stock part I've never much cared for. _________________ 65 Beetle

I always thought a Beetle/barn door standard wheel would look great also. _________________ DVKK - Vancouver, BC |
