181 Facts and Figures: http://webspace.webring.com/people/uv/vwtyp181/

I don't think VW Thing.us has been posted before: http://vwthing.us/. (might not work for those outside of the US). Some great info there on minor modifications for reliability.

This is sorely in need of updating

Hi guys, I had contacted Keith "keifernet" about this several months ago, and volunteered to create a new sticky with all new links and info (in the same format I used for the tires/wheels, BN4 heater and exhaust stickies). Unfortunately, I've had several emergencies pop up over the past few months which have put my Samba activities on hold. As soon as I'm able I will have Keith post my efforts in an updated Thing resources sticky. I've already started collecting the info, and hope to be able to put it all together in the next few weeks.
Regards,
Slim

If someone can provide scans, please email me at [email protected] and I will add them to the owner's manuals on this site.

I posted a few weeks back a link to a near perfect 74 Acapulco and thought it would be a great idea to have other pictures of 181s that we could use as a reference. Of course the Domeck Brothers stepped up and posted a gallery of over 100 photos of Ron's car. They are working on a 73 for the Thing Shop that will also be photographed extensively. So if you ever need to SEE how something fits or where something goes on your car, or just want to see a beautiful example, here are the links to these great web resources. Hopefully we can get some pictures of a perfect military model and maybe a European version to complete the links. Cool

I am about to buy a Thing. Is there a website that I can key the chassis number into so I can find out more about my Thing - like original colour, for example?
