|
|
Hi all,
Am I reading the bently correctly that the cam shaft end play should be .0016 to .0051? They refer to axial play. Mine is measuring .015 Maybe I found my mysterious clacking. The cam has 11000 miles on a regrind and new bearings. |

Yep, that's the endplay spec. _________________ '78 Westfalia CDN

the endplay is controlled by the thrust bearing. depending on where you are at with this (engine apart or not) you can try new bearings and re-measure. i suggest double-thrusting the bearings no matter what. _________________ SL |

Thanks ^ I guess it's time to tear it down. A chance to try a different cam profile this time. A blessing? Or a curse? |

just two sets. there is one thrust bearing in each set, and you double up on that one. some vendors sell double-thrust sets but i have not been able to find them at the wholesale level for type 4 engine. _________________ SL |

So the question comes up, what cam to use. Does anyone have experience with the Web cam mild hydro? Toying with the idea of switching to solid lifters as I have had horrible luck with the quality of the hydros out there. |
