How many terminals are on it? What are the terminal numbers listed on the relay? Better yet, a picture?

That's a general purpose "horn relay" and is used in many applications where you need a simple relay. About the biggest variable in that kind of relay is the amperage it's rated for. 85/86 is the activating circuit. 30 is the current supply, and 87/87a is the current output.

Is there a current ( Ampere ) rating ? A hot start relay needs about 30 A. _________________ Stock 1974 US Westy, AW-A 1800cc dual carbs. Twin Falls is my favorite site on the Churchill river in Manitoba. |

It's one of several standard Bosch 20/30A auto relay with mounting bracket. 5 Terminals, normally open. _________________ '78 Westfalia CDN

Yes it is 12v 20/30 amp w/mounting bracket, about one inch square.Has a Schematic on the side that reads 85 over a pictorial representation of a relay coil w/86 under it.Then 87a & 87 over what looks like a switch in the Schematic (closed) and a 30 under that.Guess I will throw it in the parts box untill I learn what I'm doing. Thanks for the help I shure get a lot from this forum. _________________ 1984 Vanagon GL, Wolfsburg Westy 1.9 ltr |
