I sold my 67 bug just before we moved. I wish i would have shipped it.
I am thinking of buying one from out west and shipping it here. Just because i don't thing i will find one out here.
If you have one that is not a pile of rust give me a shout.
Great post. I miss the scene out west.

Not a Bug owner, but I do have a bus. I just bought a 67 Riviera camper. Needs lots of work, but slowly getting there. I am in Stayner Ontario (near Wasaga Beach) Looking forward to going to some shows this summer, and working on my bus. |

I'd love to, but I unfortunately don't have a digital camera nor a scanner. I'll keep my eyes open and see if any one of the numerous people who have taken pics will post them. |

In this day and age it is nearly impossible to meet someone who has not been affected by cancer. Whether they are a victim themselves, or a family member or friend at one time everyone has experienced a battle aganst this disease. My aunt Vicky had breast cancer early in her life and it seemed that she had won. However, just recently, she had a relapse and as the cancer spread it became too much for her to handle and she lost her battle.
On August 12th our entire family (including my wife and our two daughters) will be landing in Vancouver, BC. to begin a cross-Canada tour to raise awaremess and funds about the battle that so many women are facing.
Our destination is St John, New Brunswick, arriving in and around the 25th of August, 2006. At this point I will hand the driving over to John Spironello(John's Bug Shop) to drive the vehicle back to Ontario, which is home for us.
Driving across the country in a "uniquely designed, one of a kind" Volkswagen beetle made of wrought iron, might seem like a bazaar idea for some, but when I suggested it to my family they knew right away that we could pull it off. I have always been interested in cars and during my career as a mechanic and business owner I have spent my spare time restoring VW beetles for fun and recreation. No matter where we go in our car it attracts attention and now we can use it to also bring attention to a very serious disease. All the funds we raise will go directly to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. We'll be journaling our experience on http://www.myspace.com/ladybugcruise and speaking at a variety of places across Canada.
We are already amazed at the amount of people who have willingly provided their support, time and effort to help make this journey a success but we still need your help! If you believe you can give towards our cause in any way please contact me today. I look forward to hearing from you.

Manitoba again..... there is a VW club in Manitoba. Aircooled and watercooled interests.....http://www.uberwagenvwclub.com/...... about the 4th regeneration of the club since the '80s. There were also earlier clubs in the '60s locally.....
Aside from the split window beetle mentioned in this thread.... Hi David.... . There are also a couple of barndoor buses around, early converts, ovals, and other VW makes.
Pics of my rides can be found in the gallery under kintail.

Please can I play too?
Although I live 200m from the famous Travel Bookshop in the heart of idyllic Notting Hill, London, I can't wait to get to NS!!!! Papers going in this week. We've been out house hunting already.
Want to bring my 57 2165 oval and my 79 1776 crew. Both are LHD. Crew is a solid Swedish import to the UK and the oval probably came from Germany when it was one month old and has been run in the UK ever since, which is amazing for a left hooker.
I've posted on a thread about importing from the US Got tons of questions to ask - started some off on another thread.
Anyone fancy answering a few?
All help appreciated. _________________ If I am not out on the Indian, or in the garage, I'm back in Afghanistan.

Good to see big motored oval rags are alive and well in Canada. I'd better bring another black one over!
The photos have restored my faith in the ability to bring mine when I come. _________________ If I am not out on the Indian, or in the garage, I'm back in Afghanistan.

Hi Guys. I don't see many posts, or articles from Canada on the forum. I'm from Victoria B.C. Canada. On the west coast here, we are one of the very few places in Canada that has a moderate climate. Translation we don't get very much cold, or snow in the winter. For this reason we have more than our share of older cars.
I have a 1973 Bug. Orange in color. Its certainly not a show, or collector car. It is however my weekend car . Only put a hundred miles a month on it. At work I drive my van thru the week. I spent about 10 hours applying the
motherswax 3 stage wax job. It looks really great. The car is stock except for an S & S exhaust on it. 1600 dp. I'm an old fart. My first car in 1972 was a 1970 beetle. Drove it in 1973 from Eastern Canada to Western Canada. My girlfriend, our friend, 3 suitcaes, 2 tents, camping suppplysand so on. Had to jump on the trunk every morning to close it. Zero to 60 in 3 minutes. 4000 miles , not one problem. Bought my present beetle in 1999 from a mechanic. First thing to do , get it checked out by another mechanic. Paid $500 for it. Paid $500 for brakes, tuneup, etc. Been driving ot trouble free since. One of the few cars that you have to actually drive, and are fun to drive as well. Well enough rambling. Like to hear from other Canucks . Errol |

I'm from Montreal and have a '55 European Oval which I bought from a guy in Lethbridge, Alberta about 10 yrs ago. He found it in Montana, where it had been buried under a hay stack. As far as I know the car has been off the road since the early 70's. I flat towed it back with a VW towbar. That's about 3000 km.
I still haven't got around to restoring it though. The only rust it has is in the rear bumper mount area. |

HI, I am in Kamloops, B.C. We have a 74 Super beetle that was bought about 6 months ago for the wife and then aquired a 72 Super beetle that we are fixing up. Both of them are parked for the winter as I know how much salt is used in winter here............

Howdy y'all. Newfoundland here. Sloride knows where it is!!!! Right now I have a 65 Camper (in pieces), a 91 Double-cab and an 86 Jetta. The scene for aircooleds around here is pretty slow, but I think a lot more people are discovering how fun they are! |
