yeah, i did a few searches, but did not find my answers.
what year round tool kits have the "full circle" ring on the back where it clips onto the wheel? the sticker shows 12 tools, including the small philips head screwdriver.

That's weird. I would have thought the full circle whould not have had the small Philips. Maybe the top was changed at some time or the sticker was added at a later date????? Or maybe they had some left-over full circles when the went into "oval" production. It's a mystery. Is there a clip for the small Phillips? _________________ "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." Dobee, Dobee, Do |

lid has not been changed, and i see no evidence of the label being replaced in the past. (this box has not seen the light of day in a long, long time) it has the "early" style hinges, not the continuous "piano hinge". yes, the lid has a "VW" logo stamped in it.
yes, there is a clip (1 side broken off) for the small screwdriver--arrow in pic points to it.
also, there is no flocking. there is a piece of felt (looks original, old, whatever you wanna say). i found no evidence of old flocking.

You already realize that your box does not fit the accepted "normal" configuration. Just proves we don't have a clue about when changes were made. _________________ "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." Dobee, Dobee, Do |

I have the same toolbox, full circle rear ring, and the clip for the small screwdriver. My "guess" is that Hazet used up old boxes when they were upgrading the boxes to include the stubby, that would put it around 52-53ish.

I think Gary is right. The Germans wasted NOTHING. It is probably a transition toolbox. _________________ "What a fool believes he sees, no wise man has the power to reason away." Dobee, Dobee, Do |

I just purchased a nice early 50's tool kit. I notice the ones selling on eBay right now are the later 50's or early 60's. Are the early 50's design worth any more money than the later style? Mine is in real nice condition and only missing one wrench, the 10x12 wrench. The case and the tools are in fine condition. Thinking about selling it but not sure if the early model kits (51 to 56) are worth any more money or basically the same as the later kits.

Does anyone have a source for the clips used in and to close these boxes?
I saw it once on the samba, but after searching, can not find it again.
Thanks,
Neil |

I think Glenn Pablo has the clips and provides restoration services. Search the feedback thread as he has a lot of feedback. |

I've got what looks to be the same, but only the tin.
What's a fair value in your opinion?
