Hey Jade,

I sold my OG wood wheel a couple of months ago on here and it brought $375 shipped, with a repro flat 4 hub. It seems like the horn button and hub are the 2 things that will drive up the price especially if they are correct.

all depends on what empi wheel it is. 14" or 15" gtv? big button wood or leather?

A Empi GTV wheel will pull in whatever a buyer is willing to pay. I've seen and bought/sold them over the last year for anywhere between $150 to $550.

In order to command the highest price you have to be in the right place at the right time with the right wheel.

Good luck!

Now having that said I'll give you $200 for the wheel!!

Along these same lines...

Why are these wheels so freaking expensive?? Shocked

I love the look of them but they are hardly rare. There are always several up for sale on the Samba but their prices hover around 700 to 900 bucks. I must've missed the 375.00 one that sold mentioned in the prior message. Sad They also show up on ebay from time to time and also go for pretty good money 500.00+.

I'm about to throw down for a Flat 4 version. I had one in my last bug I liked it alot. I'd prefer an original this time for my '56 (has a later column in it), but I'm not paying the kind of money that they seem to be going for.

</rant>

Regards,
Tom

These wheel's are expensive because they are the SHIT Rolling Eyes !!!!! Sure they aren't that rare but they do demand top dollar (given the condition of course Wink) because of who made them and the people that have used them such as Dean Lowry, Lee Leighton, The Berg Family Oh yeah and RESTOJOHNNY :lol:They have a history of being the choice of steering wheel to use for show or dragstrip. I've never seen 7 wheel's up for sale at one time here on the samba EVER !!!! The only ones on there now are a couple of mine that I have for sale. I just sold 2 other one's in the past 2-3 week's and yes I got paid over $600 ea. for them.
The one for $375.00 was up for sale for awhile before it sold and the only thing on that wheel that was Original EMPI was the steering wheel itself Shocked . The hub, hornbutton & bezel were flat4 !!!! Hardly worth $375 because it was incomplete. If anything it should of came with the hub atleast ! then it would of been worth it for sure !!!
How much is a flat 4 steering wheel these day's ?? I've seen one on ebay go for $300.00 so if that's the case why not spend an extra $100 to $300 for an original EMPI Steering wheel ? It'll be a nice investment because obviously they aren't getting any cheaper Razz
If your not happy with the price on a steering wheel then what would you pay ? make the offer and who know's you might get lucky. If you have anything to trade that person well shit that's even better because the people that are selling these thing's are 90% of the time collectors looking for alittle more cash for something else they want to set on there collector's show case and if you have what they want I'm sure that ME & the rest of my fellow collector's would be down for a straight trade or even a partial trade & some $$$ . Either way these wheel's are collectable and they really aren't that rare but they aren't that common either and they are DEFINITELY not getting any cheaper.
Don't tell us you would prefer an original EMPI wheel but ??? just put away alittle more of your money away and have alittle patience and you'll get the REAL DEAL.

Hey Germanpride, Oh hell yes, I'm going to use it in my '56 ragtop. Smile No display case for me.

Thanks for the deal RestoJohnny! That was the easiest deal I've ever done. Looking forward to getting the wheel. I'll check back with you later and ask about an Eliminator shifter! Cool

Thanks again!
Tom

I managed to get one of mine signed by Joe Vittone, one one spoke, Richard Guarino on the other spoke, and there still is a spoke left when I get up to Sheridan, OR, for Darrell Vittone to sign.
BTW, spoke with Joe yesterday. He's doing well, for being 82, has to have another knee replacement siurgery, but he and his wife and their 2 year old son ( and YES he is the father ) are doing quite well Shocked

It will be on a car as soon as I find one to put it on. So, in the meantime with the gauges and shifter, it will sit. Cool

Really,

Well Johnny if you had bothered to ask!!!!!!!!!!, instead of assuming that the wheel did not come with the original hub, or if you had bothered to completely read the ad I had posted, you would have seen that the wheel came with the original hub AND a flat 4 replacement. The reason for this being that the original looked like someone had taken a hammer to the side of it trying to get it off the car instead of using a puller. I made no bones about the fact that the wheel would have to have the hub replaced. I dont sell very much stuff here, but I dont try to pull the wool over someones eyes when I do.

Along with a radio, I assume.... Cool
I also had my Oval glove box door signed by Joe and Richard. If anyone cares, I'll try and get a photo and post it here.

Hey Dave,

Didn't you get those signed about the same time that Overspray and BK Prez got their t-shirts and stuff signed by Joe.
