Hello,
I recently purchased a 1982 Westfalia. The EGR light came on after idling for a few minutes. What exactly does this signify?
Thanks in advance...

The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) light comes on every 15,000 miles (24,000 km). When it comes on, the van is scheduled for emission control maintenance. To reset the light, you have to remove your spare tire and locate a box that has a switch that needs to be pushed. _________________ Life is a garden - dig it!

Speaking of EGR light...I'm having an issue with mine. I was attempting (failing mind you, quite horribly) to install a stereo in my Van. The ground and the battery wire crossed a couple times, then I go to drive away without installing the stereo, and the EGR light comes on. Doesn't seem to want to shut off.
Is it simply due to the crossing of the wires? Or is there something else that it has to deal with? |
