Does anyone know of a current source for Nexen SV820 / 195 - 15?

I spoke with a distributor for Nexen today and he said they had been discontinued.

He said there might be some random tires here and there, Easter Egg hunt.

This tire has my interest now: https://simpletire.com/catalog/product/104833

Anyone with any experience with these?

Well, I pulled the trigger on a set of Rangers.

Upon further investigation of the tire specs, the manufacturer's published height was 27.2" which put them at the same height as the Nexen SV820. 8 ply load range D.

The stout sidewalls from the 8 ply provides good lateral stability. Which is important when being passed by large trucks or nasty side winds.

nice..where did you get em from?

Simple Tire.com https://simpletire.com/catalog/product/104833
so i got those tires i order, and it turns out they sent 195/14s.i was actually not pissed,,becouse i was gonna return em any ways!!!lol..so now im gonna get the Rangers, they look good so far,

Pricey, a bit short and the load range is still a bit under whats recommended (but not by much). I have not heard much good about Coker's bias ply's, not sure about these.

i do like the look of the wide oval redlines
https://www.cokertire.com/tires/styles/bias-look-radials/firestone-wide-oval-radial-redlines.html

they are high, but they do look the part. GR70-15 or FR70-15, the bigger ones are 27.7 inch diameter.

but they are high....

Russell, your 59 would have had 15 inch wheels. The outer tire diameter would be bigger than a 185/14.

Hey there,
The site references the tire diameter at 26". Plus the previous owner put 14" wheels on the truck.
This tire should be taller than the 185-70-14 currently on the truck, right?

Russell,

yes, a 185/14 is usually a little taller than a 185/75/14.

however, an original 15 inch bias ply would have been about 27 inches tall.

if your truck is lowered (no RGBs) and straight axle, then smaller tire diameter is okay.

one inch in diameter is a significant difference.

Uli,
Thank you for the confirmation! I really appreciate the input from this forum.

And yup..no RGBs

Kind regards,

that says trailer use only which is what i kept finding out when i was tire hunting. I don't think any of those trailer tires are meant for strong turns and head winds.

Nice. I bought one of the Power King 6.70x15's to use as a spare as it fits in the walkthru spare tire well. The Achilles are a great choice as well, almost went with them before going with the Thunderer's.

Those 6.70s will probably be badass. Bigger tire + Load range C.
