..............and if I weren't in South Georgia, we wouldn't be talking about the reasons why no one has bought it. I already would have it in my shop. Cool

I love the look of the old Westfalia stuff. Minimalistic functionality.
Are you guys gonna refinish the wood or just give it a good scrubbing?

AFAICT it's
1) The panel is in Boise, Idaho
2) It does not come with a tranny (it's sitting on one that's original to one of Lind's buses) I just got some spare good trannies, though, so if you swing by Oly on the way to Boise you could pop one into it.

We'll see how it cleans up. At this point I'd like to keep it all og, even though it's a bit tatty.

Bus is now washed on the outside. Twice. Lots of dirt came out of the wheel wells. Some of the metallic blue came off on the roof, which is over 50% dove blue. I think the respray helped preserve the original paint. Tried bon ami on the rear of the bus, but that just made the metallic blue shinier. Rolling Eyes

Now to clean the inside. Ick. I hope to get this sorted out and under cover by the end of the day.

I want to see the nose!
When I found my spring frame it had mustang front seats, bulk head was cut to make it a walk through .
But it did have the spring frame which at the time I thought was added when they did the mustang update. So I chucked the spring frame which btw had much lager springs more like a diamond pattern. I wonder if that was a later or early change?
I hope to one day find a correct spring frame kit and dump the 58 interior thats in it now.

Hey Jim-
I saw a '57 springframe which had a different spring material and was original to that bus.
My 10-55 bus (few hundred VIN #'s earlier than yours) had the exact same springs as this 1-56 bus does.
Both interiors are/were original to the respective busses.

It still needs quite a bit more work but we're having fun with it. Feel free to chime in with questions/comments.

The fabric scraps pictured are not original pieces, they are curtain/bed material we bought.

I really like it. Lots of potential. Now you need to get YOM plates for it. The newer ones look out of place on something that old, IMO. Keep having fun with it.

YOM plates would be cool.....but we need to find some, after the year registration is up I'll switch it to YOM's and get the lifetime registration.

Awesome bus, but then all ribbed bumper westys rock. I'm suprised it still has all that metallic blue paint on it after all this time, but then I guess you guys have so many other buses to play with.

You guys rock! Seriously, how do you decide what to drive on a day to day basis? A fish bowl of keys and whatever you draw you drive? You guys need a pic of your bus line up, people would flip when they see it!

Hey awesome westy! Instead of scrubbing it yourself, I would look into having it mold treated. construction companies that do alot of insurance work for fire and flood damage have specific equipment to treat mold. I would call and get some quotes, it save time and further soaking and staining the wood. a couple of brand names are Microban, and Ozone. from what I hear this stuff just kills the shit right now. It could cost a to much probably 10-20 mins worth of work. also greg I hate yellows, but I love the other westy. what is the color scheme? stock westy or ?
