MQ1918, just keep looking, you'll find what you want. The most expensive thing you can buy is rust. You might find an SC that needs work for $2000.00 and will cost $6000.oo to fix or one that has no or very little rust for $7000.00 and the latter will always be a better deal.
Just think what they will be worth in ten years!!! |

enkiel,
Your are kidding I hope! $3800.00 for that thing is nuts! I like the fact that he listed the rusted areas & then puts at the end, "there may be more rust" I also thinh the dent he mentions in the nose has become a hole. 3 days left on the auction, it will be intresting to see what it goes for. I really don't think this is what mq1918 is looking for. I think this is what he is saying the problem is, a lot of rust for basically $4000.00 not to mention the cost to get it where it needs to go. _________________ Hoockd on fonicks werkt for mee?

Sorry guys but the shorties just do not do it for me. I think that is such a shame to deface a type 2 like that. Why was that ever thought of as "cool"? I wonder how many people started and never finished one of those conversions only to let the type 2 go to waste. I just want a fairly straight body to start with as I have a trans and a motor. I might lower a cab for a short time only to fully restore it later, original is always bigger pimpin anyway (IMO). Thanks for all the responses. Matt |

i found this singlecab by way of a visit to a local vw show, 'the rock' last weekend. a guy at the show had listed it on a board along with 5 other vw's. i went by his house yesterday, only 2.5hrs from my house, and bought this beautiful '66 single for only $1500! the truck is soo solid, for a truck that has never been restored. it has a rebuilt 1500sp, new master, new brakes, and has usual bus rust! it runs and drives great, but will need some elec. tweaking. running, driving, solid buses are out there for less than $2k , keep looking, and run up on one like i did!
