I saw that a lot in the late 80's/early 90's. Played way out in Califas

If you were ghetto you just drilled into the rear of the wheelwell. Wait, I think that's how they were all done!

It's a lousy look if you ask me, not that you did.

Foolish though it is to mention Bays & Vanagons in here, the later Westies did have a mud flap to protect the propane tank for the stove...they had some sort of bracket, although it's been a while since I sold my '87 so I don't know if you could adapt it or not.

I have been thinking of doing this myself. I think it would protect my rockers. I almost bought a pair of rear mud flaps at a VW show this summer (to try to put on the front) but the guy wanted $60 Shocked
Still thinking about how to do it and have it look OK.

They sure were not added "yesterday".
Have you seen other splits with mud flaps on the front in the US?
I do not know if this was an option at that time.
In the Netherlands I do not see it that mutch...

reviving this discussion!!! Has one else seen mudflaps on the front recently? I'm assuming some of the Shasta Buses have them. Can anyone post pictures of the mounts?

Problem with the Mcodes is that VW kept using them, often adapting the codes somewhat or to mean completely new things. So the factory birth certificates must be read with that in mind.

Thanks for posting that image! How long are the bolts from under the head to the end?

From your previous image it looks like there might be a diagonal brace?

Never mind, the diagonal brace is just the flange of the jack outrigger.

Thanks again, that helps to give it a scale. Might build us a set for the SO-34.

Problem with that is the flaps are just bolted to the body. That is going to hold water/dirt between the flap and bus body, causing much faster rust in that area.
