On March 16th 2010, I sent a complete and brand new pair of DRD L3 heads ($600) to Nick Sison of nsracing along with a postal money order of $350, shipping was $58. He agreed to flycut the .060 step in the chambers and cut 6 cc's from the combustion chambers to leave them at 51 cc's. After two months he asked for a postal money order to pay the shipping to me. I sent him $60 for the shipping which is more than enough to ship the heads back. Almost 3 months later and still nothing except for excuses. He says that he cannot ship them due to his job where he works in a hospital. I can understand abnormal working hours because I work nights in a hotel but that is not an excuse from not shipping a set of heads after 3 months. The way I see it he advertised his services and I paid then he has an obligation to me. 3 months is an unreasonable turn around time and in 3 months he could have had someone drop them off at the post office or had the postal service pick it up using their free online pick up service. I am totally unhappy with his excuses and so far am out of $1070 dollars (heads and money spent). At this point I am not sure if he has used them for someone else's build, or is just plain lazy. I don't know what to think anymore since this is the only problem I have had dealing on the samba. To anyone who reads this be aware that Nick just plain doesn't feel any obligations to his customers. I waited for so long because he had other people's work ahead of mine but enough is enough.

I would start screaming sooner rather than later -- contact your Postmaster and attorney general, and then everybody else you can think of...

I just met the guy (nick) in person at the last bug-out. He just told me how he works a couple days on and a couple days off and could take care of all my shops machining needs in quick turn around time, about a week,(because my customer demand it, and I expect it to get my work done).

I can't take chances on whether or not the machine work gets done timely enough, or worst yet, if I even recieve my customers parts back, so Nick, I don't think I'll be doing business with you based on this DRD head story.

Your not using them on that williams? engine you were talking about are you?

Do the right thing, and give the guy back his heads and money. NO EXCUSES! If you can't drop them at the post office, have someone do it for you. There's 24 hrs. a day you can meet up with someone to do so. They can even meet you at the "hospital" if need be.

BTW, I'm pretty sure hospitals have mail pickup there also.
Just get online, fill out the label, and get it done.

I had Nick balance some parts for me. I was pleased with his knowledge and advice about the process, and he was a little slow with it but not bad. I think it's correct to say that this is a "hobby business" for Nick and not his full-time gig, and I can't expect him to turn it around like it was. I certainly wasn't charged a "hurry up" price. There are quite a few people like that on here doing good work for other hobbyists and making some extra cash for their own projects or whatnot.

I can't imagine Nick is trying to rip anyone off, but if he's not communicating about where your parts are, that's bad form, I'd have to agree. But given my own experience I can't say that he's ripping anyone off. He's a straight-up guy.

I would've never imagine him ripping me off. At first he would answer all of my pm's but I started getting a bad feeling when I couldn't find much feedback on him coupled with the fact he kept trying to sell me other things when he hadn't finished and sent my heads. Supposedly they have been finished and he plain won't send them. Now after I made this public Nick in no way has answered me back to make this situation right. And if he thinks I am going to forget about it he is wrong. I have contacted his police department and will contact his local courthouse to resolve this situation. Also since my father bought me the heads as a gift he is going through his people to resolve this situation. My father works with the department of defense and has many friends with the FBI and other agencies that will lend me a hand with this ordeal. I hope Nick follows through because if he won't then I will.

I was not able to check my mail. I am dealing w/ a death in my family right now.

I did not realize that you have been calling me a thief, Pete.

I am many things but not a thief. YOu will get your heads. A 350.00 job...and you call me that? What gives?

I am so sorry I was not on my PC all day looking for your email. I did not jump back on the emails soon enough for you and I get called a thief.

Sorry about the death in the family.

But this kind of stuff really irks me. When I wound up in the hospital for back surgery in February, the first thing I had my wife do was get on the computer and Email my customers to update them on my condition.

That's all it takes- Communication. Rolling Eyes

Might sound heartless, but customers can't read your mind or remotely view your situation. All they know is one day everything's ok, a week or two later and you've got their cash and have gone incognito.

On top of it, you come on here all sarcastic telling the customer that their money is of no concern next to your family issues just looks bad. Not that family shouldn't come first... but why not just lose the attitude and explain the situation? Rolling Eyes

You see the same scenario on here over, and over, and over again. Not just you, either. Why not just talk to your customers?

If you can't look at the customer's point of view and empathize, you shouldn't be in business. Sorry, but them's the facts.

I get that, Tram. My feeling is if the person was just down a state or two, I would drive up and shove the heads into his face. As I have said before, I am many things, but NOT thief. And I resent that very much.

To not able to get to the emails and get called a thief, would you feel okay w/ that?

Anything can happen to any person. But to assume you got took and no evidence of anything of sort is just a lousy way to deal w/ stuff. I have handled way more money than that. To get accussed of thievery for a lousy 350.00 just irritates me so much.

I have been on this site for a long time. I am not about to just dissappear... is all.

Without communicating to him about why it was taking so long to finish/ship his heads, jumping to the worst-case scenario may have been the next logical step. He sends you money + heads to be worked and then you essentially disappear, with no emails, etc, to let him know what's going on - what is he supposed to think?

And you have yet to respond to him about his heads -- where are they and when will he get them back? You've had them for almost three months and have the money to ship them back....

No, you obviously, by that statement, don't get it. And you have anger issues to boot. If you had communicated, nobody would be "calling" you anything.

So getting heads "shoved in his face" is his thanks for doing business with you? Nice.

Oh, and please point out where anyone called you a "thief".

DISCLAIMER: please, please don't take this as any kind of defense for nurse nick, because i will never, ever do that, but:

if you shipped them to him on 3/16/10, and figure a week for them to get to him takes it to 3/23/10.
you say 2 months after that, is when he said he asked for return shipping payment makes it 5/23/10.
i'm guessing it could take up to a week for him to receive payment if you sent another money order, so that takes it to 5/30/10. it's only 6/4/10, which is the beginning of this week. not 3 months. 3+ months total? yeah, but not 3 months with the stuff not being shipped.

while i would presume that when he asked for payment the heads were machined and ready to go, i would not presume they were packed and ready for shipment at the same time, although a smart person would pack the parts so they could be shipped when payment did arrive.
IF what he says about his "family emergency" is true, then maybe i can see cutting a little slack for not shipping this week* (based on timeline above). even when i had several family emergencies recently, i was still able to get parts shipped within a couple days of receiving payment, so i am not really giving much credence to that excuse. and yes, there are numerous methods of having the package shipped without being personally present. many shipping places have rather long hours too. i really can't think of a work shift that would not allow someone to get to a shipping place either before or after work. sometimes it takes me a week or longer to pack and ship things, that's just the way it goes. it is rare, but every once in a while it happens. HOWEVER, i will always let the person know i am running behind and will tell them when the stuff gets shipped.

have you picked up the phone and called him about this? his phone number is in all of his ads.

was his turn around time slow? yeah, that seems to be a pretty common thing with nurse nick.

i'm not going to get into my personal contentions with nick and his self righteous pomposity. trying to discuss things in a civil manner with nick is like trying to have a discussion with an enraged mental patient who has been off their meds for a few weeks. there will always be an excuse, his way will always be the only right way, his machining is the absolute best in the entire world (well then why are you not a professional machinist rather than a "therapist"???), and everyone else is in the wrong. i feel this is clearly evident by his attitude about shoving the heads in your face, among countless other abuses he throws around in the forums.

unfortunately, he still has your heads, and will probably turn this in to a big game where he fucks with you about it instead of just taking the 10 minutes and going to fedex to ship the package.

on a side note, i'm sure the neighbors love the parts washers in the driveway, or are they in the front yard. Rolling Eyes

Looks like he's working out of his house.

Now I get it Idea , he's got to be violating zoning regs and epa stuff on several levels.

No wonder he's so "selective" on who he will do work for.

From all I've read on the forums, as well as my personal conversations with him, I've come to my conclusion that nick is simply a machine collector.

Even though we've spoken several times about doing some work, He simply will not give me any pricing for basic jobs such as alignboring and cutting valve seats.

this may be a clue as to why:

EdW wrote:
Just be wary of his pricing from what I've understood. Reliable sources from this site have told me that his prices change even while he's working on your parts. This was pretty much confirmed in an exchange on chat today:

nsracing: I only offer prices on the day. I do not hold it for the next day.

nsracing: If you do not commit...then no deal right. If you call next morning..prices have changed.

EdW: So, your prices change daily, man what a honest upstanding businessman

blankmange: so if I called nsr today and requested a quote and said 'lemme check with a couple of other guys'

blankmange: and then called you back tomorrow, the price would be different?

EdW: That's what he's saying Dave

nsracing: yes sir.

blankmange: that would lose my business on the spot

blankmange: whether you think it is wishy-washy or not, that is a poor way to do business

Nick, just give the guy his heads back and go away.

Nick communicated to me that he would ship the heads tomorrow and send me a confirmation #. One step forward...I will update on that and when they arrive.
I don't question Nick's ability to machine parts and the reason I chose him to do the machining on my heads was his knowledge and the quality of the machines that he owns.

Everything that I have shipped from Puerto Rico has arrived in 3 days since I ship using 2-3 day shipping on all parts that I have sold or have sent to be worked on. Initial payment sent with the heads and shipping payment sent on Nick's request. Why would he not ship them if he's asking for the shipping money? That's what sent me over the edge.

^^ This thread has been an interesting read. Based on what I could gather, he's making you bend over and grab your ankles on the shipping. $60 for a set of heads is outrageous.

*I will mail these package tomorrow when I get home from work. I will give you confirmation.

Friday passed without one word from Nick. I will let everyone know how Saturday goes. Also, I hope that my heads weren't used on another build cause I will know in a heart beat. My carburator manifolds are match ported to them.
