Can someone help me decipher a Beetle chassis number of a Beetle from Nigeria. I believe Nigeria used Brazilian CKD kits. The chassis number is NS535962 and Engine number is BH931674.

It is believed to be a mid 70s car. Any chance the numbering is similar to Brazilian VWs?

Thanks!

Brazil did indeed export VW's to Nigeria in the 70's.
Brazilian Beetle 1500's had a chassis number beginning with BS - B for Brazil, S denoting the 1500. So from the chassis number you quoted, it would be logical to conclude N for Nigeria, S for 1500.

Additionally, Brazilian built 1500 engines came with a BH prefix. So it looks like a 1500, which were built in Brazil from July 1970 to August 1975.

Trust this helps.
