My rocker covers were leaking (I was messing with the rocker arms to put the roller adjusters on; I'm an idiot!) and I ran the oil out of her and overheated my engine. Now it make a loud knock which is only getting worse (I'm not running it for very long). Is it probably the crank bearing or could it be something with a cylinder? I know it has to come out. Any assistance would be appreciated!

Something let loose.
It might have to come apart to fix it.

Rod knock! One of the bearings is on the way out and causing the rod to knock against the crank on each stroke. Don't run the engine any more as if the bearing shatters and throws metal into the case , you're screwed. |

I took the engine out yesterday and it is the rod bearing? How do I know if it's shattered? It seems mainly to be in one piece but is disintegrating? I'm sendin it in to be worked on, so I guess I'll find out. Thanks for the info. |
