back of the new shock mount and tower.
other side.
sorry for the dark pictures. it was at night in my garage.
what my bumper will look like. with a skid plate.
i welded one of the clamps to the cage, so when i need to take off the beam... no cutting.
the front shocks mounted. _________________ CUSTOM OFF ROAD FABRICATION FOR VW TYPE 1.. BOLT ON KITS. for more info, please go to: http://www.myspace.com/blackmetalworks

i did some more work today. the front end is nearly complete.
i got the clamps all done. welded up and bolted in.
got all the breaks cleaned up and ready for cables and fluid.
got the speedo cable where it belongs.
heres the new radial balljoints. ive got two more and i need to figure out how im going to press these in.
avis adjusters
its defenetly commin along. after the ball joints, i can bolt everything back up and start making the front bumper. thats my next goal. then its the wireing, breaks, motor and i think thats it. _________________ CUSTOM OFF ROAD FABRICATION FOR VW TYPE 1.. lol. thanks man. well, im pretty much an unemployed peice of shit at this point. i have nothing better to do. my next goal is to get metal so i can start that front bumper. one day, when i have a tube bender, and all the other goodies, ill just cut off the ENTIRE front end and redo everything. possibly a arm set up. _________________ CUSTOM OFF ROAD FABRICATION FOR VW TYPE 1.. a buddy of mine said he would sell me his new ford 4.0 with all the wireing, and a c4 tranny for 400 bones. the motors only got a few hundread miles on it. hes geting a killer deal on a 5.0.
anyways, what would it take to put that motor in my bug? am i going to need a mendola trans or something expensive?
do you guys think its worth the work? or should i just stick to a vw motor. _________________ CUSTOM OFF ROAD FABRICATION FOR VW TYPE 1.. BOLT ON KITS. for more info, please go to: http://www.myspace.com/blackmetalworks

just run with the VW motor for now, you have to place the radiator and the new wireing. and besides with a huge motor you would look like something out of mad max
ive always wanted to make one of those out of a old station wagen _________________ never forget 1-31-07 |

Nick, definitaly stick with vw. With a ford motor, it will weigh more than the car itself, and go through trannies like crazy. |

thanks man, but i got too cought up with the idea too fast. im thinking its more work than i have money for. if im going to be spending the kind of money it needs to be done, id rather just buy tools so i can build something rad and put a big motor in that. as for now, thanks to talking to some people, ive decided im sticking to a vw motor. not sure what size, but im probably going to go with a 1600 DP single carb. just nice and clean. that way i can race it in the 5/16 class. _________________ CUSTOM OFF ROAD FABRICATION FOR VW TYPE 1..
