OK, got a pair of ICT 34's, they came with long manifolds. Problem is, one of the manifolds has the ear where the carb stud goes in broken off. Ordered new manifolds and when they arrived they were of course shortys. These new manifolds have the bosses for the eq tube, but no holes. Should they be drilled out for the tube or should I run them as is? I'm new to the dual carbs on VWs, so any help would be appreciated. These will be going on my '73 SB with mostly stock engine.
BTW, the bosses seem to be below where the manifold divides for each cylinder. Please tell me your reasoning behind what you say. _________________ '65 Karmann Ghia 'vert

the reasoning for my saying to weld the broken ear on is= it fixes what you broke. |
you misunderstand, it was broken before I got it, and I don't have the ear.

what is reason you asked this question ,please explain. |
I'm trying to figure out what to do.
the thing is, I've always used a eq tube of some sort whenever dual carbs were used. These new manifolds haven't got the fittings for it. I am really wondering why these manifolds wouldn't come with it... just laziness on the part of the manufacturer or they aren't needed? _________________ '65 Karmann Ghia 'vert

You can use them without the equalizer tube. I've done it, idle quality may not be what you're used to - but they will work.
If you've got them off the car now is the time to drill & tap for equalizer tube fittings, it's not hard to do... _________________ Richard Sedoris - VW Performance & Machine - Youngstown, OH
