educate me on front end odds and ends

I was looking for threads regarding needle bearings....and those dust covers on the end of the tubes and trailing arms on the beam. I see manufacterers selling these red urethane inserts...looks to be 6 inches long....says they replace the needle bearings...does that mean i remove the bearing and tap these in? Instructions say the oldsleeves are difficult to remove...and that you just tap them further into the beam and put the new ones in.....I realize this thread so far seems very confusing...it is primarily because I dont know what the heck im talking about. I do know I'm going to replace all the ball joints...and that while I have the trailing arms off...I might as well do this..am I right? There are no rubber dust caps on any of the torsion bar ends...

if anyone is patient enough to formulate an answer for me..I do appreciate it.
