Even with that, this is over estimated.

There's a 2180 sticker on it and I bet it doesn't have more than half of the stated 330hp.170hp. _________________ Glenn

Have never seen that year Ford tail lights used before on a VW. I personally like what they did. The split window is correct for that vintage Ford. Would have chosen a different color but, looks pretty well done. _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.

While I agree it doesn't look right, at least to me, with a split window over a 70s deck lid. It's finished and cruising on the highway. That's more than can be said about a lot of the vehicles in this thread. |

Gotta remember - not after a split look, but 40 Ford. The late decklid is MUCH closer in appearance to a 40 Ford sedan than an early VW deck lid....
If I was going to do something like that, it would be similar...but probably black and flames...Wide whites, red steelies and the moon discs would still probably work fine... _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.

If they took all the parts they put on that bug and put them on this bug I think it may look decent. Or did the roof line like this volks rod in the classifieds. And give it a 1940 ford 2 door coupe look.
The back windows of the one from the classifieds look too small in my opinion.

The problem with most coupe attempts out of beetles I see is the upper line of the door window doesn't start to curve back down part way back, that rat is a prime example. The silver one could almost pass for a tudor if it wasn't so stubby. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Rear windows to small agreed. Oval would be better. Cool front axel and over all talented work for sure. _________________ 1979 Bug project |

Dang!, that thing gets around!
20 years ago it was sitting by the road in Aldergrove with a for sale sign on it, then ~ 5 years ago it was advertised as a potential project for "Vegas Rat rods" with a rediculous buy in and no compensation if you didn't like what the "star" chose to do with it (but you'd get to be "on TV"). _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

vw powered? or chassis swapped? i think it could be a cool idea, just not very practical. its like a verne troyer training to be a body builder as opposed to a young arnold. it would take alot of work to make that bus be able to tow something usefull. thats is, unless its just for looks _________________ -'85 c10 5.3 LS, 222 cam, long tubes, x pipe, 3 inch spin tech's

One axle was a dummy, regular VW power last time I kicked it's tires (and a shitty looking hacked 1600 SP with missing tin IIRC). _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.
