It is rear engine. It started out as a 1962 Walk thru standard. Walk thru walls are cut out so no m code plate.
The engine and automatic trans are all out of a Honda accord.
Motor and trans radiator and all tucked under this wood and metal box.

Some people think they stopped making beetles after 1957. Some people think they stopped making buses in March 55, or August 58, or August 63, or July 67.
Some think that if your beetle has a padded dash, it's an engine donor. Some think that if it has push button door handles, it's a boat anchor.
Do what you want. Ignore the elitists. Drive your VW. Enjoy life. |

You know it's vintage because of the gas prices and the phone booth. _________________

Fresh from Craigslist

Doesn't look like a VW, right? This 1968 VW was stripped to the chassis, had its engine rebuilt, and then had a completely custom box tubing frame body built on top of it. Runs well. Starts up first crank each spring after being covered all winter. Brand new wheels and tires. Driven in parades and was used in an Idaho Governor's race a few years back. Has been re-painted to resemble a WWII ambulance but still has a few minor details to go so you can add your own touch. Was planning on mounting army shovel to the outside, a WWII first aid kit, and an army cot!
Come check it out and make us an offer!
This ride will get some glances and be super fun in any parade or just buzzing around town! We call it "The Puddle Jumper". |

Well...I am glad that I didn't build this. Was seriously pondering something like it, but taking it up a notch or two with wire wheels, real Model T fenders, hood etc. _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.

I look at this thing and all I can think about is the Pierce Arrow Ambulance that got blown to hell in the Razors Edge with Bill Murry.
The Boys from Princeton have this new beautiful White Pierce Arrow Ambulance,
Bill Murry's crew has a new Model T Ambulance.
They are meant at the "front" by a well seasoned veteran with a truly FUBARed Ambulance.
The Seasoned Veteran tells all the New Boys they got to bust out their windows, cover their new machines in mud,
because the Germans will shoot at the Pretty New Ambulances.
Bill Murry absolutely destroys the looks of their New Ambulance, and the boys from Princeton tell the Seasoned Veteran to Piss Off.
The next thing we see is the new beautiful White Pierce Arrow Ambulance take a direct hit, and is blown to hell, along with the boys from Princeton. _________________ Good Luck

Saw both of those last month in Algonquin provincial park Ontario.
gas prices ~$1.20/ltr and phone booths..
was odd.

Here in the states, we sell fuel by the gallon.
That looks like the Golden Gallon in Chattanooga TN.

Looks more like a WW1 era Liberty Truck than a WW2 ambulance. _________________ 1960 Ragtop w/Semaphores "Inga" |
