I agree it's overpriced, but I could totally see myself finding a use for it on various construction projects. Just have to convince the boss to invest in self-contained lift equipment. I mean we could slap company stickers on it too hahaha _________________ ,,Wenige Menschen denken, und doch wollen alle entscheiden.'' -der Alte Fritz

It is a 15 window deluxe, though it looks like it needs a lot of work. The perspective on the lead photo is all wonky, but maybe it looks better in person. |

I can almost guarantee it looks worse in person.
I bet it is a Brazilian bus. It just doesn't look like like the normal hackery we see around these parts. _________________ .

That's what I was thinking too. It looks like a South American hack. Would have to see more to see if it is a true 58 German bus. But no price in the ad. So maybe it could be had cheap but doubt it. |

OMG it looks worse than when he listed it for several years while under the carport. I had hopes it didn't have as much rust but I see I was wrong.

Cherry as if it never was used. Hump back seat, right? Aftermarket mirrors. Question about the Hurst; is that an original made for later bumper or did they modify it? |

Not sure what more needs to be seen? Everyone knows that VW started using single black side mirrors on buses in about 1958 maybe 1959. No need to call the antique road show here. |

It doe have a mint front hump seat.
The side mirrors could be original - those were an accessory.
Good question on the Hurst. I don't know if that's an original and if it's a real one for a later bumper or a modified ribbed bumper guard _________________ How to Post Photos

obviously, a Ruthmann Steiger would not have export bumpers in the rear.
i have seen a couple of these in germany, unrestored. I think they are more of a museum or show vehicle than anything else. The Steiger is very heavy. cool though _________________ regards

They ARE repro mirrors; the kind that shimmy. They ARE like, "How Long IS a Chinese name".

OK, for some reason, I didn't realize Hurst made one for later bumpers. |

The idea of someone raising the bucket with it 'stabilized' on that 4x4 seems like a Darwin's award event.
I agree it's over priced. It probably is low milage, though. Ruthmann trucks just don't get used much. They are just very heavy. And the weight is high up, so cornering is not ideal.
They are super cool, though.
Agree on the front 'Hurst' and rear overriders and mirrors being added.
Also think a Ruthmann has the taillights re-located further out, and tended to be a utilitarian bright shade of orange.
They also tend to have German installed salt rust. Looks like the one for sale was restored. Pics of M-code plate? Engine?
Gallery pics of "ruthmann": https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/album_search.php...t_dir=DESC
Also search for 'cherrypicker'
this is the only pic I found that was not orange:

That's Joe Gunyan's truck. He's alive and well so not sure how the seller "inherited" it...
I just talked to him about a week ago and two people are selling it for him.
It's neat but kinda useless unless he got the bucket working...it never did the whole time he's had it.
The Hurst is a real one though. It has the stamping right on it and he had that on there long before any repos were ever made.
The orange bay window lift truck for sale in the classifieds used to be his too...but someone else owns it now.
