To start, this guy is just trying to flip this thing. It was listed on the here for $11.5k or best offer, up until around February.

Second of all, he fails to mention the extent of work needed, as flippers usually do.

The floors are shot, the outriggers are shot, the jackpoints are shot.

The side and front window frame areas are all super rusty and would need some serious work done.

Misc exterior rotted/rusty areas.

He's not kidding about 'turning it into a 21 window' The entire roof/gutters are shot.

It was originally Titian Red, so it's not even an original paint bus.

so... for 39k you get a double cab with no 4th gear but the option to purchase another transmission at an extra cost. Rolling Eyes How about this concept? if you are going to ask top dollar for your ride put a little effort into making it a top dollar ride

"This is a solid and complete Volkswagen that can be enjoyed as-is or brought to the next level"

And I don't know how much I would enjoy it "as is" with no 4th gear! That seems like a stretch.

I recently sold my 61 DC in better condition with bow, hoops and canvas, nice driver, for less than that.

"The interior is in pretty good shape" If you like lumpy oatmeal. Sloppy unkept interior at best.

Those taillight lenses that are almost faded to completely clear! At least spend $20 on a cheap set of repro lenses so any potential buyer can safely take it for a drive in 1st through 3rd gears.

I like how the seller puts "pops out of 4th on its own" like that is a feature.

Laughing Laughing Laughing

Autonomous vehicles are all the rage now so maybe it's a sales ploy. No need for you to take it out of gear! It jumps out of 4th on it's own!

It's back! Yesterday it was at $2k, today it's up to $5k, must've done an oil change. Someone must've called offering the $2k. Probably was the first call since the ad was placed in December. Remember it started at $20k.

1964 Custom Camper !REDUCED! Price: 5000

I'm a little confused on the use of the word reduced when it was indeed $2000 yesterday.

I realize this whine has to do with my personal preference... so let me express this is my OPINION-
If you remove the SO42 cabinets, is the bus still an SO42?
If you lower a camper and tub the front and can only camp at Walmart, is it still a camper?
Do black bumpers and a black pop-top make your bus look bad or just look bad?
When asking nearly 6 figures for a vehicle, should you have a detailed picture of the interior, engine, and perhaps the suspension hacks?

I suppose I came in here to whine, but frankly I'm crying for this used to be SO42...

I was drooling over that yesterday, not so much the price but, at least in those few pictures, it looks pretty dang nice.

For a bus, yes. For an SO42, not at all.

at least he is not pretending it to be a real "WESTFALIA" but rather a "Westphalia", so certain liberties are expected.

Good looking bus built with the right parts for such a bus. Not my thing but it looks good rolling on its "FUC's" Wink

Looks homemade. Interior is horrible. There’s no way that thing will get close to that amount not even on BAT.

Perhaps this $4,400 westy "toilet bucket" is included now?

Hahaha I'm glad my add found its way into this thread! The toilet was a tough item to price out. The only other price data I could find was from 2007 where a toilet sold for about 10% of the price of a really nice westy ($15k). Now with westys selling for triple that, it only seems reasonable that westy parts should triple in value also. Add states open to offers!
