Looks like the wrong interior colors for a "never restored time capsule". |

..."never restored" doesn't mean "never modified"... my '66 has never been restored either....and it's been the the wrong red/white paint color since the early 70s. (and hey, it's also a 2 owner bus...) _________________ ...david - '66 SO-44 #231 |

Yes, this was my thought too
Bulkhead panels look original but a little beat up
Everything else looks recovered _________________ How to Post Photos

I have gotten buses with junk-covered OG panels only to rip off the shitty material to find beautiful OG material underneath. I'm guessing that's not the case with this one because Maurice would be smart enough to do that |

Well... where to start? For $105,000 it's apparently not even finished? I'd rather spend $30,000 more and get a brand new class C Tiffin (top of the line small motor home). I guess that has nothing to do with buses but this doesn't have much to do with buses either? I'm a little confused by this ad being place on The Samba. And personally I'm not sure why anyone would want a fake 21 oe 23 window ride. Just my personal opinions. |

I think he'd be lucky to get his $42,000 investment back. Never mind trying to get almost 3x that investment back. I feel for the guy. I really do. It's a really sad situation. But the whole ad rubs me wrong. |

Hate to say it, but most vehicles aren't investments they're consumables. And if they do end up making you money it's not much. You would be better off financially if you put your money in an index fund or municipal bonds or an IRA.
Buy a vehicle because you like it, or because you need transportation. Don't expect to make a small fortune when you go to sell.
I feel bad for the guy too, but on some level he must have known he was throwing money down a hole. Everyone here on the Samba is probably guilty of the same self delusion to one degree or another, just sucks when you need that money back and realize a lot of it's gone.
Here's some numbers to make the point. If you took the price of a Deluxe 23 window bus in 1951 and invested it in an index fund you would have around 4.6 million today. |

i love a semaphore bus as much as the next guy... but, a low hinge bus with semaphores in the wrong location? on a 21 window? I mean, if you are going for it, how hard would it be to use high hinge doors at least? _________________ regards
