Not so much a whine as a warning- 67 Split on EBay- the owner seems like a nice guy, but his ex wife is managing the eBay sale and she is not disclosing info (like the engine needing to be rebuilt). When asked about it she showed her true colors and they are not pretty. Buyer beware. _________________ '58 Kombi |

You might want to include a link to the ad, and more specifics about the bus and your interactions. _________________ .

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1967-Volkswagen-Camper-pa...632-2357-0
Seller provided ex-husband’s contact info to discuss details. I spoke to him at length on Friday. Ex-husband seems like an honest person. He described the body work that was done by him and his brother when they were teenagers. He also described an engine knock that was not disclosed in the listing. When I mentioned to the seller (his ex-wife) that the fact that the engine needs a rebuild should be disclosed to potential buyers, she denied there was any problem with it. I figured she was just mistaken, but not being malicious. Then she sent me the information that her ex-husband had given her, which clearly states that the engine needs to be rebuilt. Next she accused her ex of trying to sabotage the sale, and then even accused me of being her husband or conspiring with him. Then she denied saying that she suspected him of sabotaging the sale. Very weird correspondence. I lost interest in dealing with the seller, but hoped that I could save someone else from kicking themselves later. There are also dents on the drivers door not pictured, but that’s a small issue compared to what else is going on. _________________ '58 Kombi |

This sounds like all the ingredients of toxic mess and bitterness. Sales like these should be only handled by a hired 3rd party or something. If the seller is this paranoid now what will it escalate to by sale end? |

I kind of found this one humerous
https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/cto/d/lake-mary-1973-volkswagen-transporter/7399609456.html
my 1973 VW T1 Pickup underwent a complete nut and bolt
restoration end of 2019 beginning of 2020. Vehicle was media blasted
and taken down to bare steel before body work. New everything
engine and transmission were completely rebuilt.
This is 1 of 2 currently for sale in the US and by far probably the nicest one
ever available for sale. Wasn't going to sell but decided to sell 2 cars out of my collection
to make room for some vehicles I purchased recently.
Please dont waste my time with lowball offers or if you don't have the funds please dont
contact me, Thank you
Vehicle is Located in Central Florida.
Only reason for posting here in San Fran is because I have a 1973 Bronco that I sold thats
going that direction so figured it would be easy to ship together. Also have a contact with a
title agency in San Francisco that has titled 2 vehicles for me in the past to make it super easy
for you, no smog needed. CLEAN CLEAR TITLE under my name

$30k, no title and a bug rear seat for a front seat?
I'm sure there's more wrong with it but that seat caught my eye. It's actually bolted in with some kind of homemade brackets. _________________ still driving the holy snot out of buses |

There is a local bus here that has a late bay window bus transmission in it, and the engine is raised like that too. I think the shift rod is on top of the cargo floor too, or something weird like that, lol |

Something is weird about this Bus, I think it's body-dropped or something.
The rockers look too low and the engine is higher than the rear apron.
Rear wheel wells look made by someone too

Nice inner wheel wells!
The rest of it looks a like it's sculpted in bondo to me... maybe it's a Brazilian restored Bus? :

Isn't it funny how you just know something is wrong?
It's like a Brazilian bus. You just look at it and even if you don't know all of the minute differences you just think, "Something is off?"
The rear apron looks sculpted and the driver's door gap looks weird.
In the OfferUP ad photos, the cargo door rocker looks homemade and flat, and on and on it goes.

Yes - but only TWO in the USA AND the nicest one!
(Meanwhile there's dozens in the US already all Braziled out) |

Obviously a flip, but, you have to wonder about the title. Who is 'their guy'? Usually a title can be had fairly quickly. |

I was wondering if it was Brazilian too.... or massively reconstructed

Yes!
Looking at that front photo I thought for a second it was a shorty Bus, something just looked WRONG _________________ How to Post Photos

It looks like there's no curve to the rocker area, it looks flat from the belt line to the bottom. It's especially noticeable in front of the rear wheel arch and behind the dogleg. It looks like they took the long panel and hammered it dead flat before welding it on. Or filled it with bonds until it was flat. |
