After going up hills, or inclines as we call the in Cincinnati, my Volkswagon idles high. It's like something gets stuck open on my way up. Even if I give it a quick rev the idle doesn't go back down until I turn the car off and restart it. Any help would be appreciated...thanks!

This may be stupid.. but perhaps the choke is sticking? check the throttle valve adjustment screw's position on the toothed cam. These are located on carburater, left side.
