|
There is a bus I am interested in buying and the lady told me on the phone it has sliding doors on both sides...it is a 1971. Does anyone have any information on prodcution of these? I never heard of sliding doors on the driver's side as well as on the passenger's. Thanks. |

I was assuming it was a panel but this lady said it has windows all along the sides of the bus...I asked her if there are any windows on the side besides the driver and passenger doors...she stated that there are windows all along the sides.... she is going to check it out for me in the morning...it is dark here in Mass right now. I am confused with what this lady is telling me.... a bit excited too! |

I have a '68 double door that started life as panel, but Roadrunner camper company converted it and cut windows into it. I love my bus, drive it daily. I think most of the DDs started life as panels and were used industrially - delivery-mobiles. A real DD bus will have the factory belly pans like the sunroof deluxe buses. I have a couple of pics in my gallery. Someone a little more computer literate will have to post the pic here. _________________ '68 Roadrunner Double Door Camper

Man, I should have checked out my gallery before posting . . . after seeing that I don't really have any good pics of it posted, I looked in my photo files on my 'puter. I have hundreds of pics of buses, but I am sadly lacking in pics of my own favorite . . . I will be correcting that this weekend! Sorry 'bout that! _________________ '68 Roadrunner Double Door Camper

I have heard this said before, but I doubt the truthfulness of the statement with respect to loaf busses. I think it is true of splitties, but I've never seen a loaf sunroof deluxe with a belly pan or any evidence that one was ever installed.
Get the VIN and the Mcodes and you'll know for sure whether or not it is originial.
BTW, I thought Chrysler invented the double sliding door in the 90s? |
According to the M-Codes on this site, sliding doors on both sides would be code 142. I will be going out there hopefully soon to take pics. Still need to arrange something with them. I will take pics of all id tags and as many pics as the memory card will hold. |

I have to concede . . . I have only been a Bay pilot for about a year, now - only splits before. I feel more familiar with the splitties and know this to be generally true for them. It was a stretch for me to make that statement based on my knowlege of splitties. I made an assumption based on that. Sorry for any confusion - _________________ '68 Roadrunner Double Door Camper
