Just because it starts, doesn't mean it will actually get you there.
The R on the fuel gauge isn't for reserve, it's for "Really empty"
VW's can make more creaks, groans, pops and wails than a cat house on a Saturday night! _________________ Custom cars need love too!! |

Things I have learned from VW's
1. Take your time - there's no hurry (70 Westy Weekender)
2. Breakdowns are the VW Gods way of telling you to take a look at the scenery.
3. It will cost you twice as much and three time more than you planned.
4. You only need three things....gas, compression, and spark.

I've ran out of gas more times than I care to think. My gas gauge works but my attitude doesn't. The needle gets into the "R" and I say to myself, "that ain't no problem, I got at least a half a gallon left." Time & time again I say that and time and time again I run out. Rush hour traffic, oneway bridges, intersections, I done it all and people cuss at you for messing up the flow. I got me a can to carry around a spare gallon now. Comes in handy if you remember to fill it after its been used. Last time I needed that spare gallon can that didn't have any gas in it I was 60 something miles northeast of bumfuck Nevada. Nobody there to cuss at you or flip you off for blocking the road. It was great.
Other than me running it out of gas my VW has never ceased to deliver under any circumstances it has been exposed to over the yrs. It has limped at times but I have always removed the thorns. "I", a key word. "I am the thorn remover". A key phrase. dhamma.
Every creak, groan, pop, wail that is produced you must learn intimately. When it makes a sound you can say "oh yeah, thats........" and you are in the know of your VW. Not a mechanic as they cannot know.
In the end these things matter most: How well did you love? How fully did you live? How deeply did you learn to let go? |

You're damn right lol, it happened to me no later than 2 days ago...
Took the car ot of the garage, checked out the fuel gauge (it read 1mm at the right of R). I told myself "no big deal, I can drive for 7-8 miles". Yeah right... 1.5 miles later, I ran out of gas, at a traffic light in a oneway inclined street with at least 10 (honking) cars behind... how cool
Thank god there was an empty parking spot some 15 yards behind.
It was in a residential areal, closest gas station was 6 blocks away...
That's what's cool about bugs Even though you have a car, you still exercise quite often |

She wants my full attention just like a mistress, a loving rub down, lube-up, and constant upkeep and maintenance ... just like my wife. One can be replaced the other never....
On second marriage...lol

take my time and do it right the first time. If it doesn't seem to fit right take a break and come back later with a clear head..instead of rushing and having to re-buy another replacement part because I forced it and it was ruined.
