powder coating would hold up to the heat.. it's good stuff.
on my baja I used 'stove polish' it's made to keep woodstoves from rusting and looking nice and black..
designed to take the heat, but will need to be 'refreshed' time to time..
just a rag, and latex gloves (polish stains like no other)..
if the part get s red hot (lets hope your exhaust doesn't, but my wood stove will) then you'll have to reapply more often, though usually have a few extra minutes while camping.. |

I hear ya...idiots do 50 down my street (19th), so I'm very, very careful about letting body parts protrude from under the car.
Sometimes I'll pack up the tools and drive off to a nice quiet dead end in Sunset Park to work, but in accordance with Murphy's law, there's always one essential tool left home, whose absence only becomes obvious once the steering wheel or brake rotor or something is removed.

Wow, that's a great idea, but I've never heard of one.
Maybe between the insane real estate prices and the insurance they'd have to carry it just isn't worth it.
Or maybe this is my chance to start a business and get out of the corporate world....

There's a cavernous dip in the street at the end of my block so when those wanabe import race car drives and taxi cabs come flying up the street at 50mph I like to peek my head out from under my van and watch the fire works as their oil pans smack the street

| Mightyart ruined my day! I have the same extractor header that I bought used and was hoping to clean the rust off (there's not much) and keep looking good with my $34 can of Black Velvet.....Oh well, the header cost $50, the Cherry Bomb $30, and if it annoys only one person it'll be money well spent (even if that person is the same one in charge of MY kitchen table - where I DIDN'T clean the rust off!) |

I noticed this last night while ordering new gaskets. The guy I bought it from on Ebay failed to mention this in the ad. 4 of the 6 threaded bolt holes are stripped out. Sombody eved rigged a nut in there to catch the bolt
Lesson learned

I haven't installed the header yet. My POR15 came yesterday so I want to get it coated properly and I'm having a flange welded up so I can bolt on a Cherry Bomb glass pack. My stock unit is in great shape, I just want less back pressure and more sound.
Too bad about the stripped threads on yours. If you use the correct bolt, it should still work though. Just tighten that one accordingly to make up for the slight difference. The rest of it looks great. |

| Sorry! Just re-read (4 of 6 stripped out, not 1). That sucks. Get on ebay and buy that Empi header. A lot of people use them (Cip1 wants $76 for the muffler and I think $95 for the header). |

It sill looks unpainted. Protect it before it rusts. You can touch it up later.
You can do two things with the holes. Put inserts in or go one size up. Sometimes you can get away with an American thread easy. Sometimes just go to the next metric size up.

Yea I jumped the gun a little on the sand blasting. My POR-15 order should be here by Friday. I've been careful not to touch it with my bare hands. I don't want to spray it with a primer because I don't want any funky interactions between the two when I pant on the POR-15.

hate to throw another roadblock your way but that should have threaded studs on it, not threaded holes, if you try to use bolts in it they will hit the back of the exhaust and it won't seal. This is why I got a new exhaust one of the studs was broken off on mine and some moron used a nut and a long bolt, the more you tightened the bolt the more it pushed against the back of the exhaust and wouldn't seal.

Cool thanks  Like I said I'm not giving up yet. I'm sure there's a solution. The POR-15 came in today. I'm gona apply it tonight to keep it from re-rusting. I'm gona take this step by step. Hey CF, I may give you a call this weekend after the paint dries. I have to ask my pop about these threaded "studs" first
