You should rev the engine to 3000rpm and then set the timing. Usually 28-32 degrees will work depending on your engine. |
I have a '73 Super with 1600DP, dual 34ICT's, 1.25 rockers, and 010 distrib. I have searched for timing specs, including going to Glenn's webpage and searching. I found the above quote in another thread, but I need to know if this is the correct spec for an 010 or not. _________________ '65 Karmann Ghia 'vert

That statement holds true for most all Type 1 based engines with mechanical advance distributors. You won't have to rev it to 3K rpm though as the advance comes in sooner with the 010. You'll see it reach max advance with your timing light... _________________ Richard Sedoris - VW Performance & Machine - Youngstown, OH

The advance on a 010 is all in at 2500rpm, but 3000 is plenty safe.
Start at 30* and advence to 32* if it doesn't ping. If it does ping retard it to 28*. _________________ Glenn
