Highest mileage VW

VW diesels seem to go forever. What is the highest mileage VW you have ever seen? My 85 Jetta Coupe has the highest mileage of any passenger vehicle I have ever seen with 683,000 km and counting. It has survived 5 deer hits so far and a wife encounter with a tree but aside from the body shell and the glass (except the windshield) I don't think it has an original part left on it. Lol. I'm sure there must be some out there with more.

my '72 ghia has no amazing record-134,000,miles of the car, could be 234k but i doubt it, as for the motor- motor 1= 75,000 motor 2= 50,000 motor 2.1(rebuilt by me)= 300miles motor 3(current)= 8K or so. this is just some guestiments cause my records(totaling $14k+) go back to '86 and so it's not confirmed before '86

a decent record my car may have is the # of owners - 6 since 1986 and its been in socal, washington but mostly the gulf coast in the past 20 years

also it was restored twice as far as i know

This wasn't a VW, but my mom had a 1970 Camaro, the first year with the sleek body style. Hers was metallic gold. That Camaro was the best-running car I've ever seen. She never repaired anything on it EVER. Just did basic maintenance. She finally sold it at 250,0000 miles, figuring that sooner or later it HAD to break down and she didn't want it to happen to her!

We had an all original 1970 bug come into the shop for a motor rebuild and he had 155,000 miles on it and it still ran pretty good just leaked some oil.

I had a '92 Pontiac Bonneville that needed a new engine at 120k, then crapped out for good around 180k.

Years ago, my friend had 275K Mi on his 72 type 3. The car was all original, and his family bought it new. Just changed the oil and gave it tune ups.

There's no telling how many times my odometer has rolled over. I've had my bug for about 7 months and I thought it was pretty cool when I just hit 90,000 recently.

The most mileage I've ever seen was in my dad's old Jeep- 564,289

im as much of a ricer hater as most here but you got to give those japanese credit for those hondas and etc, they can go like 125k w/o valve adjusting. 'course when you do blow them they cost 4 volkswagens to repair

i'll take 10 old ACVWs that need work over a working honda ANYDAY (well almost anyday)

On a VW, I had a 1969 Peru Green Squareback that made it to 245K before the floor and fenders rusted out and the bumpers fell off. I was living in Ohio at the time... Good ol' road salt. ONE engine overhaul, original trans, but she was getting tired and noisy.
I sold my 1973 Mercedes 450SEL with 339K miles on it to a customer of mine in Sun Valley, Id. back in 1996. As far as I know, one of the girls now has it at Boise State. Original engine (but I changed timing chain/ tensioner every 120- 140K)
The highest mileage vehicle I ever owned was my old shop truck, a 1973 Mercedes O309 diesel Bus. It had 1,225,000 miles when I got it. It had been a Boston Loop bus, and I had the service records since new. It gave me very little trouble- In fact, it was so reliable that I bought a similar Bus, but a high top, for a camper. This one has only 72K original miles so it should outlive me. We love it!

I read an article a while back about a guy who currently has 2.5 million miles on a Volvo P1800S.
He called Volvo at something like 500,000 miles and they weren't impressed. When he called again at 750,000 they invited him to a show, tempted him to lunch, at which point they had engineers check out the car. It was still all original apart from some regular maintenance items.
The damn car still looks good too.

my uncle has an 85 Jetta with original engine that went over 1 million KM last year...then my cousin totalled it
he also has a mk1 Jetta deisel that is up around 800, 000 km

340k on a 92 Ford Ranger, it is my Grandfathers but its more of a family shared vehicle. Whoever needs it can use it. The tranny has been rebuilt but the engine has had nothing but maintanance. Still runs OK. The A/C crapped out long ago, and the paint has looked better, but no rust. And I'm sure the compression isn't what it used to be, but it doesn't use any oil so

We also had a rabbit that was passed around the family a few times, 200 or so k, still running when we got rid of it.

Other than those 2, none of our vehicles have gone much over 150k.

Had a 89 Nissan Sentra that died at 145k. The freakin feul pump(mechanical) blew a seal and started PUMPING oil OUT of the case! This happened on the freeway and it didn't stand a chance.

Sometimes it seems more like luck whether or not a car will last over 200k.
