Who is interested?
If there is enough interest I'll make a mold.
Please let other Ghia owners know about this opportunity, the more buyers the more accessible price $$$$ |

Hi Ghia lovers!
I took me years, but I did it!
I made a model that can be used to reproduce the early Ghia firewall mat!

I owned a Thing up until a month ago. I have never seen a bulkhead mat for a Thing but it seems like a good idea. _________________ Ghia Owner Emeritus |

What about Thing pans. I believe they are the same width. If so I wonder if we could use Thing floor mats.
Does anybody have any knowledge of the Thing floor? Better yet, a car or set of pans to measure would be great.

The floor pan for the VW Thing is indeed the same as the one used in the Karmann Ghia - it even has that groove molded in the floor metal that arcs from the tunnel side of the seat tracks over toward the leading edge of the door opening.
That groove was intended as the place where an actuating cable would lie - that cable was part of a "safety" feature found on the 1967 Karmann Ghia only, and it prevented the seat back from tilting forward when the doors are closed.
As far as using VW Thing floor mats in a Karmann Ghia, forget about it.
The Thing was not a weather tight vehicle by any means, even when the convertible top was closed.
Accordingly, the rubber floor mats used were very flimsy and perforated with rather large holes so that any moisture that got underneath them could easily evaporite ...
... rather than being trapped there where it could cause severly rusted floors.
The floors of most VW Things have still managed to find a way to rust through anyway, however. |

yes we all know the kg floor is wider than the beetle, however if you really are after a bulkhead mat and don't have a kg version you can use a beetle. |

Worried Going on three years paid for two sets of rubber mats and have been told I'm first on the list and yet he is gone dark. I heard rumors off his health. Is he doing ok? Also I had paid for two bulk head mats too. Not angry but anxious and worried for him. Any body got his number or know how he is doing? Like
I have to say the ones he did for my car years ago were awesome. Good guy.

well..... I wish good health to John - and maybe someone will uncover a barn-full of rubber floor and bulkhead mats.... in the meantime, it looks like Plan B is in order.
Thanks for the heads up _________________ 56 Oval Sunroof
