Luis,
Do you know if the material you will be using has any type of UV protection to prevent from turning color?
Thanks Geoff |

I am committed to purchasing 2 sets of lower light RHD mats (no bulkhead) just floor mats when you have the capability to make them. |

UPDATE
Dear Ghia friends,
Last week I finished the MOLD from the Master Model:
The trip to Pennsylvania was great. I took the Master Mold (big piece!) and used it while been train. Here is the mold in the booth:
After spraying the release agent and first colored rubber layer (I used the Dark Green color option):
Preparing the spraying gun:
Applying the black rubber material:
Done!
Back in New Hampshire, ready to unmold:
After unmolding and trimming mat (I placed the new mat on top of Master Model):
Great detail reproduction:
In this first mat some areas came thin, next time I know where to reinforce while placing the rubber. Working in adjustments and inserts for LHD mat to create mold this week. No RHD orders, therefore that option won't be available now.
New spraying tool ready for production!:
Tomorrow I'm picking the air-compressor. The Production Line should be ready this week. Friday I'm driving my son to college, he is going to CWRU in Cleveland Ohio.
My plan is to star production some time next week!
For the ones that where waiting to have an actual mat produced before placing their order, at this time you still can get the COUPON to get 15% off from the published discounted price in the website www.lowlightwerks.com
After the first set is produced and shipped, the price will be the published discounted price.
I'm waiting quotes for cutting dies and materials, to cost the under-mat options and present them to the members and followers. It is important to use an under-mat to make sure the LowLight Werks sets fit well, otherwise they will deform with time if placed directly on the chassis floor. I used a set of original under-mat pieces to create the templates I send to quote the cutting dies.
I have to say that getting to where we are now took more time, a lot more work and cost more that I originally planned. The good news is that we accomplished the dream: reproducing the LowLight Karmann Ghia bulkhead mat!
Cheers!

I'm in awe of your commitment to seeing this through when it would be easy to be overwhelmed at the task at hand; you're obviously passionate about these cars to put in this kind of effort. Thank you for pressing on...the bulkhead mat looks great. |

From what I can see, it's not a big problem to make these fit a RHD anyway, just don't cut out the left steering tube hole. So if there are any RHD's out there, you can use this bulkhead cover too.
Great Job Luis _________________ Cheers,

I'm inspired by your commitment to this project and the end product is truely amazing. Well done. You've made many KG owners happy.
Look forward to seeing the RHD lower light mats in the future if you make them. |

Wow, this post started 12 years ago! I'm impressed by the commitment for perfection and authenticity. I have a 64. What year did they switch to carpeting for the bulkhead? _________________ 2019 Golf Alltrack, '65 Ghia Coupe Restoration in Progress |
