May have been for holding instruction / reference cards. Seems like the creator spent a lot of time making little cuts though... so maybe the use was something more elaborate / important.

No name knockoff of the original.......

Yard sale find this weekend. Cleaned and greased latches, wheels. Works great in a small garage. I added the aftermarket lamp and mount which I really like for floodlighting the engine bay.

Hello All,
I have a few Hazet Assistants for sale and was wondering if there is any interest in buying them. I get them from Germany and most are in good condition.

Right now i have a rare 166ts in pretty good condition and a 166n in really good condition. Both are 30+ year sold and have "made in W-Germany" stamped on them.

My prices start at around ~300 and some of the really nice ones have sold for ~800. But most are somewhere in between.

If you are interested, send an email to [email protected]. If i don't have what you are looking for in stock, usually something can be arranged for me to find one for you.

Hi All, Just picked this up here in Denmark. Not sure of exact year, but believe it is an early model. Would love to find the stool. Mine has a green and black knob on the supports which are threaded. Any significance there? Has Continental tires. Any ideas on year/value?

I'm lucky to have two Hazet Assistants in my garage, and was just wondering if anyone knows if the tires are still available new or reproduction. Mine are mostly good condition, but if they were available, I'd probably buy a set. Also, how about a reproduction of the rubber bumper strip that goes all the way around the trays? Thanks for any advice!

When the stools were reproduced in small batches a while back, I scored two for my Assistants!

Hi Bill,
I don't believe the old Continental wheels are available... but a replacement and the rubber strip are.
Here you go...

Hello all,

I picked up this Hazet Assistant at a local garage sale. Would love to hear from the experts on its vintage and any special features.

The 1st and 2nd trays have some surface rust and I am thinking whether I should leave them as-is or restore them. Any input would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Kunal

I'm no expert... but I think the last year of the little "a" in Hazet was 1964... went to big "A" after that.

Special features... I think just normal stuff.
Locking little wheels.
Trays go up & down.
Bar sticking out of one of the handles can slide through horizontally, when trays collapsed... and a lock put through the hole. Used to lock trays down.

Without seeing the trays... buy just by looking at what's shown... I'd say don't mess with it. It looks great... has character.
Nice find!

Today i picked up my new (Hazet?) Trolley from the early 50th.
Now i have three of them and a lot of rumours...
the one man told me it was special for Volkswagen in the early 50th and the trolly is the first Hazet Trolley before the Assistent came up.
The other one told me it was only made for gas stations.
After i picked up the last one i saw the Cinema or Circus Style two color was original and the orange/red was not painted over.
This is the only one i know in this color:
Did someone know other one?

cheers Andy

Hi there all.

I joined this forum so as to share an "Assistent" that I just came across. I couldn't really find anything the same on the internet although it looks identical to a Hazet, it has "Tool Caddy" written on it.

I was reading somewhere that some came out of the German factory for overseas suppliers. This may be one.

I couldn't find another red one except for the Bico Mantra.

I would say it's from the 60's or possibly 70's.

Just thought I'd share and if anyone has anything to chime in, fantastic Smile

Hi

Congrats with your buy but sure not from thé German factory but a knock off. The're a few on this topic already. In comparison with a real Assistent it's smaller and much lighter.

Ah right, thank you for that. How much would one from that era weigh roughly?

Great, thank you for that. There don't seem to be too many of them around. Finding anything on them to give away the country of origin seems to be a little difficult. The US seems to be the general consensus? I'd like to know the weight of a genuine one for comparison. Thank you again for locating that page; I've read quite a few however hadn't got to that one yet. Interesting little product thats for sure.

I just went and weighed it. Its 20Kg (44 lbs). If its 60's or so, that would be about the same weight as an original Hazet perhaps.
