What exactly is polishing? Like with that wiper arm. It looked all shiny. It it just polishing it to bare metal? if so won't it just rust when water hits it, or is there something to prevent rust, like some sort of special coating, or process to prevent rusting? does it have to be painted after polishing? please explain.

Oh and who made those wheels? i have a set just like that, except they are steel, and 10-12 inches wide (haven't gotten the old rotted tires off yet Laughing ).

Polishing for aluminum involves sanding to level things out and make things as smooth as possible then lots of buffing. The up keep on polished wheels is much more than chrome. You have to keep them clean or they will turn.

I dont know how he did the wiper arm...?

I dont know the make of the wheels. They are 14 x 6 aluminum wheels.

Anyone who thinks they might be heading to Helen tomorrow needs to post here or send me a PM so we can make a plan on when to meet. The other AA club is meeting @ Bass Pro Shop around 9:00 and departing for the mountains @ 9:30AM so I'm thinking a pull out time of around 7:30 to meet them before they pull out.

Lets get our cruise on! Cool

I am going but i will be spending the night in stockbridge. Still have to do a little work to the car to see if I can drive it. I am having distributor problems. It has too much centrifical play in it. It is the second distributor to do it..... So I cant get it timed right.

Bryce: I just got the pics of the wheels to him...sorry, it's been a busy week or so. I'll get the pricing info for you as soon as I hear from him

Mike: They were just standard wiper arms from pull a part. He polishes them and then uses a special coating on them...it's not clear coat...he told me, but I can't remember what it is. I haven't exposed them to the weather yet, but he says they won't rust. We'll see. The aluminum stuff he did for me looks great. He also chromed a few small parts.

Just heard from Keith, the polishing guy, if you could, bring the wheels, or the worst looking 2 to the cruise at Sonic on the 9th.

He said that they don't look bad at all, but he would like to see 'em before he gives you a price.

If anyone else has anything they need chromed or polished bring it to the cruise and he can give estimates...he's reasonable and can even do plastic chroming.

**UPDATE** I spoke with him this morning and he will be at Sonic about 3pm on the 9th

Gordon
