Just curious, I like the look of skinny
wheels and tires up front. Sure my
handling isn't as good with my
135's, but they do come off the ground
real easy What do you guys run?

Hey steering is overated LOL. Skinny is a cool look and it really depends on how you drive. I like good handling, but like "big and little" So my compromise was 205/55-15 in front with 295/50-15 in back. I wanted a front tire that was similar in size to what I have on my Subaru WRX and this is pretty close.
I personally wouldn't want to go too skinny, but then look at what's on a Miata or even one of the old VW Super Vee's. Not a lot of width. It's all a matter of perference.
Good luck and that buggy in the pic looks sweet!!! _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.

Tom, This is my combo: 2276, w120 with 1.1, 40x35.5 heads, 44 webers, and 1 1/2 exhaust. I am running a stock 3.88 SSP tranny out of a 76 sedan with a 1700 kennedy and daiken disc. Do you think it will go???? I have never driven it except in second down the street and once in first through the neighbors fence, but that is another story....

Hey Murzi,
Great looking buggy. The motor combo sounds good
1 1/2 exhaust might hurt you top end. You might
like 1 5/8 better. Also you'll love 1.25:1 rockers
on the w120, I ran 1.1:1 at first, then switched to 1.25:1
and love it. Also what compression are running?
Do you have any head work done?
I also noticed an improvement with TS rings, and
easier starting and smoother acceration with the full
msd set-up.
You combo should put the wheels in the air!
Uncle Bob your buggy looks great also.
Good luck,
Tom |

The engine was bought from a guy around here. I did not build it, but is known for being bad ass. It has a SCAT crank and rods. In a gutted 67, no carpet, door panels, and just the drivers seat, it ran 13.70's.
I don't know the compression ratio or even what kind of heads are on it other than they are "40x35.5's." They have "CB" stamped into them ...like with a punch. I measured the lift at the valve and it was .437" . The heads are ported somewhat or at least as I can tell from removing the intakes. I don't know the compression ratio but will soon check the compression and hopefully someone can interpolate the results from that.
The one time I drove it, pan only, it was really scary. In second, from a roll, it fried the tires and put the car sideways. I parked it as it scared the crap out of me. With the steering column in my lap and the seats not bolted down I really could have done some damage to me or someone else. Oh, the second time I drove it i just was puttin in the back yard and nailed it. I fell out with the seat and the car(pan) plowed through the neighbors wood fence. No damage to the car, but I did have to mend some fence boards and calm down my hysterical wife.
I hope that the car will run at least 13.30's as is and high twelves with some tuning. We will see.....
I have tried to lighten the car as much as I can: centerlines, PRP suspension seats, ultralite gauges, lawnmower battery, etc. I hope the car will weigh around 1100-1200 lbs.
With this motor, I know I can build it to be faster, but I don't know if I will need it. Low 13's will be plenty fun on the street.

Man it should be a blast when you get it
finished. If the motor was capable of
high 13's in a bug, then getting into
the 12's might not take too much. But like
you said, how it is now should be plenty fun.
Again beautiful buggy, great pic's.
The fence story is classic
Good luck (keep us posted)

MURZI,
Properly tuned with the right ratios in the trans you should easily see mid to low 12's.
I ran a 12.55 with my Manx with a 1914. Granted it was at a NHRA track that was completly covered in VHT, so traction wasn't a problem. My 1914 probably isn't as drivable as your 2332, but I see no reason you shouldn't see mid 12's.
