Hi,
Does anybody have good pics of the VWOA roof rack tents? I would love to find one of these for my '55...Anybody have one for sale? Are they 3/4 or full length racks? I have only seen the pics of one on Joe Clarks website...
Thanks

Here's ours. Not VWOA but vintage - folds out into an instant tent, clamps to gutters & fits a double air mattress perfect - collapsable ladder.

A picture of what you are looking for in on the last page of the Hot Rod Volkswagen book. I don't have a scanner so I can't post a pic. I can try to take snap of it and post it tomorrow. Here is a picture of my roof top camper-
It is a blast to camp in. It isn't mounted to the roof any more-really rotten gutters! _________________ "My biggest worry is that when I die, my wife will sell all my parts for what I told her I paid for them"-Jon

I forgot-Don (can't remember his screen name) in Batna, VA had just the VW tent for sale a while back. I think it uses a 3/4 rack. The one he had was in great shape.
OK, here's another vanity shot-

Here's mine.
could be for sale for stupid money. Has the water tanks and the camp kitchen. This came right of the VW Dealers showroom floor when I got it. Was used as a demo at the dealership. _________________ Stocking distributor of "The Funky Green Panels"

Is this what you were looking for? Don's screen name is VWCRU. I couldn't find a current list of items for sale, but I didn't look very hard.

Ronnie, do you have an owners manual for yours?
I have the same set you have, but not sure how it all works together.
Thanks |

No owners manual, but pretty straight forward.
When I got mine it was leaning in a shed (where put when the dealer shut down) It came with the side tent canvas also, but I use that to repair where the rats ate the tent.
The cool parts though are the torpedo water barels that connect to the side of the rack and the camp kitchen that I also got with it. _________________ Stocking distributor of "The Funky Green Panels"

Those things are cool.
Do you have any setup or detail pics of those tents going up.
Just trying to wrap my mind around how they work.

Pumping air in a old thread. I've found.one of these top tents with a ladder.
Going to pick it up Friday. It's been in a attic for over 40 years supposedly. All I gotta do is bring it down. Any guesses what this is worth?
I'll post pics soon _________________ '62 Bus named Biscuit

We have one of these, I stuck it on the bug last year at Bugjam and must say it was really comfy.
Does anyone know much about them or can point me in the right direction of any info/history.
thanks in advance |
